The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Manager to support our T-7A Program located in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.
As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software engineers developing software solutions in the Mission Systems and Vehicle Management System areas for our T-7A aircraft. The ideal candidate will excel in both the engineering technical acumen/excellence required for this role while also being an engaging and motivating people leader.

Oversee execution of Mission Systems and Vehicle Management System software activities on the T-7A program across all software lifecycles, including the current USAF EMD/LRIP program and future Derivatives and Variants efforts as the program evolves.
Provide functional oversight of all Air Vehicle (AV) software integration activities on T-7A, collaborating with SEIT, AIT and other AV software and hardware leaders to ensure quality delivery of a total integrated software product.
Provide program integration support with program business owners for all software integration activities through collaboration in the T-7A Agile Solution train and associated cadences.
Ensure compliance and execution to standard Software Design Practices and quality processes as dictated by the program.
Enable communication of relevant software status, risks, issues, recognition and other software related topics across program/functional leadership and to higher-level engineering and business leaders as needed.
Deep involvement in program technical issues involving software including but not limited to non-advocate reviews and root cause correction action assessments ensuring such events are robust and comprehensive and that lessons learned are applied as appropriate.
Ensure that software estimating and Earned Value Management (EVM) best practices are utilized which include any programmatic planning and baselining activities as well as assessing proposals for accuracy and executability and proper identification and quantification of related risks.
Engage and communicate as an active participant in the T-7A program – ensuring a high standard of “say what we do, do what we say” for all stakeholders, including customer program, technical and oversight entities as well as internal stakeholders and other program execution teams
Fervently foster cross-collaboration with program, engineering, test and production execution teams that focus on delivery of product value to the customer as well as growing a culture of trust, transparency and the ability to have hard conversations with respect to deliver high quality results
Conceive and facilitate the realization of software initiatives that improve software performance and/or add business value at the SI&WS division level and beyond as applicable.
Recognize and support the growth of T-7A Mission Systems and Vehicle Management System software teammates' technical and career development including day-to-day oversight of all team members and managers, elevation of candidates for promotion, personal involvement in mentoring and coaching, identification and communication of training needs and opportunities, Talent Matrix placement, encouragement of the induction of software teammates into all levels of the Boeing Technical Fellowship and maintenance of meaningful development plans for direct reports.
Collaborate with and contribute to the success of software efforts across the division as well as more broadly into BDS and Enterprise software engagement.
Accountable to the BDS Air Dominance Software Leader as their assigned manager as well as secondarily to the T-7A Program Chief Engineer.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
5+ years of experience in leading or managing a software engineering organization and software activities
5+ years of experience working with geographically dispersed value stream stakeholders and external customers to resolve complex issues
5+ years of experience developing/implementing strategic plans, delivering on commitments and results
5+ years of experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and agile software engineering best practices
Experience influencing stakeholders across multiple organizations to define and drive common objectives
Experience with schedule and budget management, integration of all logistics elements, customer communication, as well as understanding of execution of program planning to ensure cost, schedule and technical baseline requirements are met
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
Experience in leadership roles leading teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change
Experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees
Effective performance of this role involves expertise in both software technical acumen as well as personal attributes that enable effective and harmonious interaction with others.
Extensive software engineering and program execution experience, strategic planning, knowledge of software best practices, process improvement enablement, organizational planning, and supplier management protocols
Exceptional communication skills, in-depth problem-solving aptitude, ability to leverage creativity in the application of synergistic opportunities, team building proficiency and a high degree of responsiveness and productivity.
