Systems Engineer, Lead

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Shelby team!

As our Systems Engineer you will Develop electromechanical and hydromechanical actuation design solutions for commercial and defense related aircraft flight control and utility actuation applications. Establish and manage requirements database aspects for critical aircraft actuation systems that include DO-178 and DO-254 certified software and electronics and support the development process through all phases from proposals to certification completion. Develop system architectures for integrated actuation sub-systems, and generate associated schematics, diagrams and descriptions to support contracted programs and new business proposals. Develop subsystem simulation models of actuation equipment for prediction of performance. Generate documentation including subtier specifications, subsystem description documents, and design review and proposal material.

Location: Shelby, NC

Salary: $99,000 to $143,000

Your Challenge

  • Work within product development teams to support equipment mechanical and electronic design and development from initial proposal through qualification phase
  • Develop and maintain system requirements database using IBM DOORS based on customer
    specifications for critical systems including certified software based flight control and utility actuation applications
  • Perform all aspects of requirements management including requirements capture, analysis, validation, allocation to lower tier specifications, traceability, compliance, and verification
  • Develop subsystem architecture definitions based on required system functionality and performance
  • Develop simulation models using Matlab Simulink and Simscape tools, and use these for performance predictions, validation of design features to support design process, and support to technical proposals
  • Generate documentation in support of proposals and development programs including subtier
    specifications, subsystem description documents, and formal design reviews

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Must be a US citizen
  • 7-10 years of experience
  • Understanding of system engineering principals and methodology. Strong
    interpersonal and team skills. Experience with IBM DOORS requirements
    management software, and MS Office (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint,
    etc.). Strong analytical and problem solving skills
