The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About the role 

As a Support Worker, this is your opportunity to provide a high-quality support service to participants in the Sobering up Unit at Bridge House and to promote and provide a safe, caring and supportive environment 
in line with TSA values.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a casual position located in Highgate, WA.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 3.  

 
How you will make an impact  

  • Undertake appropriate care and support for participants under the influence of AOD to address immediate needs.

  • Support participants through withdrawal of AOD and records and evaluates progress

  • Observe participants by conducting regular checks throughout their stay. 

  • Respond effectively to challenging behaviour

  • Educate and assist client with regards to rights, roles and responsibilities, including participation and empowerment strategies

    What you will bring 

    • Certificate 4 qualification in Community Services, AOD or Mental Health. (desirable)

    • Demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge and skills.

    • A Mandatory Nationally co-ordinated Criminal history check.

    • A current WA drivers’ licence

    • Current First Aid Certificate 

    • CPR Component of First Aid
