Job Description
Ultra PCS are looking for a Support Engineer to support the delivery of engineering. The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create solutions and solve complex problems within own discipline.
- Contribute to technical/professional processes within own discipline.
- Work autonomously to achieve engineering and manufacturing objectives on-time, on-quality and on-budget which will directly impact positive project outcomes.
- Influence decisions by providing advice within closely related working teams.
- Monitor the reliability (MTBF/MTBUR) of our products recommending appropriate action where necessary
- Ensure that customer technical support issues are well managed and resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the business and our customers.
- Ensure the views and expectations of our customers are communicated within the business
- To provide training to customers
- To represent the company at conferences or on customer visits
- Ensure that we are meeting our DMC guarantees to our customers.
- On a rota basis provide the out of hours technical support service to our customers
- May lead technical work packages and allocate/coordinate work.
- Contribute to the definition of standards and specifications around which others will operate
- Write reports and present work undertaken at peer and design reviews.
- Maintain professional competencies required to perform at this level
- Demonstrate and adhere to the Ultra BSPIRE values at all times.
- Be prepared to travel nationally and internationally.
- Adhere to Ultra policies, procedures, and practices at all times.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Possess a sound understanding of concepts and principles in own disciplines and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines.
- Experience working in own discipline on a range of tasks within a relevant context.
- Evidence of applying formal knowledge of own discipline in a variety of situations.
- Possess a basic understanding of how different areas of the business interact to achieve their overall objectives.
- Awareness of completing work packages within a complex engineering environment.
- Experience in contributing to work package estimation, risk identification and dependency management.
- Working knowledge of project and engineering lifecycles and comprehensive understanding of own discipline activities at each stage of the lifecycle.
- Significant experience in producing technical documentation engineering reports, salvage schemes, visit reports)
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of PLM and ERP systems
- Understanding of Quality systems
- Knowledge of current legislation (REACH, RoSH, Weee, CE & UKCA marking etc) and how it affects products and delivery.
- Understands the need for security, commercial export licences and ITAR requirements.
