Major Duties:
Qualifications: To qualify for the Supervisory Printing Services Specialist, PG - 1654 - 13, you must meet the following requirements: To qualify for the 1654 series, you must meet one of the following Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) as listed below: A) Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- journalism, business administration, English composition, commerce, accounting, printing or printing engineering, graphic or commercial art, industrial engineering, or economics. OR B) Experience: Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: 1) Determining specifications for the printing of manuscript, i.e., selection of typography, layout, composition, format, paper stock, and other printer's instructions. 2) Negotiating or administering contracts for procurement of manuscript and illustrations, printing, binding and allied services, or printing stocks (paper, inks, etc.) 3) Managing a printing plant that produces printing either for the government or private industry customers. 4) Performing production control work in a large printing plant. 5) Serving as a sales representative for a wide variety of printing equipment. 6) Analyzing the price and cost of preparation and production of printing. 7) Planning, estimating, and scheduling printing on a full-time basis for a variety of publications. 8) Performing substantive administrative support or policy functions directly related to publishing and printing program management or operations. AND In addition to the above Individual Occupational Requirement above: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-12 grade level in the Federal Service that includes: 1) Managing workloads and setting priorities for the successful processing of high volumes of work in order to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements; and 2) Coordinating and communicating with a variety of customers on printing and binding publications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
