The primary purpose of this position is: To advise squadron/group/wing, AETC, 2AF, and Air Staff leadership on all decisions relating to pipeline classification process of non-prior service enlisted accessions. Provides oversight for and manages all activities related to processing Air Force enlistees for their initial job classification and assignment.

Major Duties:

  • 1. The Air Force focal point for and subject matter expert on pipeline classification process of non-prior service enlisted accessions. 2. Oversees and approves the selection of trainees for special processing, sensitive skills, and Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs). 3. Provides technical/administrative supervision to subordinates who are responsible for job classification/assignment of all Air Force enlistees. 4. Writes/endorses annual and other evaluation reports, to include performance feedback, on both civilian and military personnel assigned. 5. Functions as a classification statistician for all issues relating to job screening, placement, and initial assignment actions on non-prior service enlisted accessions.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions for the GS-0203, Human Resources Assistance Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: I have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-08 (or higher) grade level or equivalent in other pay systems that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position including knowledge of the military personnel regulations and procedures relating to transactions processed, organizational structures, protocol and similar matters. Knowledge of the military personnel automated system, and ability to access/locate information through use of a personal computer or terminal. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE NON-FEDERAL FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: I have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 (or higher) grade level or equivalent in other pay systems that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position including knowledge of the military personnel regulations and procedures relating to transactions processed, organizational structures, protocol and similar matters. Knowledge of the military personnel automated system, and ability to access/locate information through use of a personal computer or terminal. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education (internship) in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS -CURRENT/PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-10 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Ability lo research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures. Knowledge of goals, resources, objectives, organizations, functions, and sources pertinent to the processes, programs, and organizations studied or served, and related customers, functions, resources, and users. Ability to meet and deal with customers using a high degree of tact and diplomacy, ability communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups outside immediate work unit. Ability to advise other, Ability to review, analyze, and manage Contingency, Mobilization Planning, and/or Readiness Program. Ability to plan, conduct, and record data surveys and inspections. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
