The Co-op/Intern will report to the Director, Risk in the Operational Risk and Resilience Oversight (ORRO) function and support the Governance and Strategy team in delivering the Risk and Resilience team’s mission and vision. You’ll gain exposure to high-impact projects and develop insights that support the organization’s mission to deliver smarter and more resilient outcomes.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategic execution for the Operational Risk function - as a key contributor to strategic reviews and operational reporting, you’ll help shape data-driven decisions across 4 geographies and 7 business units. The co-op/intern will gain hands-on experience and exposure to risk management, stakeholder engagement and messaging. Along with building relationships with stakeholders across the organization to expand your professional network.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Help collect and analyze operational risk data, contributing to the preparation of risk reports and dashboards for senior management.
  • Policy & Procedure Review: Support the team in reviewing and updating operational risk policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Risk Governance Support: Assist in organizing and coordinating risk governance meetings, ensuring that risk discussions are documented and tracked for follow-up.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements related to risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct research on regulatory policies and standards, emerging operational risks, industry trends, and best practices in operational risk management.
  • Deliver on Data Insights: Communicate complex data findings clearly and effectively to senior leadership and business partners to support data-driven decisions.
  • Risk Data Management: Assist in the generation of leadership reports and ensure accuracy in the data being reported. This includes performing data validation to ensure the integrity and reliability of reporting outputs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with team members on projects to drive ORRO priorities and ensure we maintain rhythm, identify issues, escalate as required, and recommend solutions to keep priorities on track.

Required Qualifications:

  • Academic Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration or a Master’s in Business Administration in Strategy, Risk Management, Finance, or related fields.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Proactive Attitude: Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative on assigned tasks.
  • Adaptability and Growth Mindset: Ability to learn quickly and be comfortable with adjusting to priorities.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Sharepoint and data analysis (such as PowerBI) tools is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience or interest in risk management, or strategy/governance roles preferred.
  • Experience working in multi-functional teams in previous co-op terms/internship.
