Job Description:

Assist director in gallery and JJC collection where instructed.
Assist in preparation and installation of shows and exhibitions as well gallery preparation in-between shows and exhibitions.
Assist in cataloging and maintaining JJC student collection.

POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Art Gallery

STATUS: Part time

DEPARTMENT: Fine Arts

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

REPORTS TO: Suzanne Gorgas

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $15.00 per hour

(Position is FWS Eligible)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours in fall/spring semester.

2. Maintain GPA of 2.0 or higher.

3. Assist director in preparing the gallery for an exhibition such as patching walls and general upkeep.

4. Assist in exhibition preparation such as installation of work and creation of

documentation and title material.

5. Assist in taking down an exhibition and storing work for pick up after it closes.

6. Assist where needed with gallery receptions.

7. Assist in maintaining and cataloging JJC student collection.

8. Assist Fine Arts secretary as needed

9. Perform related duties as assigned.

10. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Visual Arts major OR has taken core visual arts courses such as painting, drawing, design, 3D design and graphics arts.

2. Able to lift 25 lbs.

3. Strong work ethic, professional demeanor.

4. Strong computer skills.

5. Attention to detail.

6. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

7. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
