Johnson Controls is developing the next generation of smart and connected. Through a full range of systems and digital solutions, we make buildings smarter. As a Buyer in Indirect Procurement PBU team, you will lead the implementation of corporate initiatives, create or identify cost savings projects in plants and engage the improvement of the trade working capital, drive projects as project manager. This position is responsible for an annual indirect material spend from $110-250 Million across multiple (10+) locations in Mexico and USA.

What you will do

• Achieve or exceed annual targets for savings projects and working capital.

• Maintain weekly on-site presence at local plants to ensure engagement with key stakeholders.

• Identify savings opportunities, launch initiatives and manage implementation as Project Manager for indirect spend categories.

• Align corporate indirect procurement strategies with plant objectives.

• Develop and report regional category strategies for indirect materials and services.

• Drive supplier standardization initiatives across JCI plants.

• Review and validate RFx documents, lead bidding, justify rational supplier selection, negotiate contracts and report executive summary results.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of key metrics.

• Guarantee compliance with JCI Business Operating System and SOX requirements.

• Act as link between business units (plants), corporate procurement and Category Management teams.

• Collaborate with local indirect purchasing buyers to identify opportunities for efficiency and savings.

• Analyze plant needs and spend to provide insights of opportunities to Category Management team.

• Resolve escalations, including supply issues and contract compliance issues. • Work independently with minimal supervision; may guide junior staff.

• Purchase assigned items at best cost while meeting quality and quantity standards.

• Advise management on improvements, price changes, and sourcing updates.

What we look for:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in related field

• At least 6 years of broad professional experience as buyer; 3 years or more of manufacturing experience in planning, project management, purchasing, indirect procurement

• Indirect procurement experience.

• Good software knowledge/skills proficient.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree specifically in the following: Supply Chain, Logistics, and Operations Management.
