What you will do
As the Strategic Procurement Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that optimise cost, quality, and supply continuity across the organisation. You will manage a small team (2FTE) and provide leadership in supplier management, strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and procurement process improvement. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to drive business value, mitigate risk, and support long-term organisational objectives.
How you will do it
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Develop and implement category strategies aligned with organisational goals.
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, including market analysis, tendering, supplier evaluation, and selection.
Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities, process efficiencies, and value-added initiatives.
Supplier Relationship Management
Build and manage strong strategic relationships with critical suppliers.
Conduct supplier performance reviews, manage KPIs, and ensure alignment with service level agreements.
Lead supplier risk assessments and drive mitigation plans.
Contracting & Negotiation
Lead complex contract negotiations focusing on pricing, service levels, risk, and long-term value.
Collaborate with Legal to ensure contract compliance and alignment with organisational policies.
Oversee contract lifecycle management, ensuring timely renewals and performance monitoring.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting for audit readiness.
Champion ethical procurement practices, sustainability goals, and diversity initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with functional leaders to understand business needs and develop proactive sourcing strategies.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on market trends, risks, and opportunities.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to procurement.
Process & Performance Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve procurement systems, processes, and tools.
Support digital procurement transformation initiatives and adoption of supplier management technologies.
Develop procurement dashboards, reporting, and analytics to track performance and drive decision-making.
What we look for
Essential
Proven experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, ideally from the manufacturing industry and in a leadership or category management role.
Strong negotiation skills and experience managing large, complex supplier contracts.
In-depth understanding of procurement best practices, market analysis, and cost modelling.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Preferred
Experience with ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba).
Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, ISM).
Experience in a regulated or complex operational environment.
