DESCRIPTION:
Join our Purchasing and Planning team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and help advance excellence in our supply chain operations. As a Purchasing Officer, you'll contribute to ensuring optimal inventory levels and supplier performance while supporting our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll manage Purchasing and Procurement activities for a portfolio of products and suppliers, implementing inventory plans and purchase order processes to optimize customer satisfaction, service levels, and inventory investment. This role offers opportunities to enhance continuous improvement, develop supplier relationships, and contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives across our organization.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree, no prior experience required; experience in Purchasing and procurement or supply chain in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or related field
• Professional certification (CIPS, APICS, CSCP) preferred
• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities to manage large volumes of data
• Experience with inventory management systems and methodologies
• Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (PPI, Lean)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of procurement best practices and industry standards
• Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities
• Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements preferred
