Who will you be working with? 

Wabtec Global Freight Services provides offering to customer which include technology, people, and processes, designed to maximize reliability and availability of customers’ locomotives at optimal operating costs. These tailored solutions meet each customer’s operating needs for fleet strategy, and changing business trends, ensuring we help customers achieve their desired business outcomes. These offerings include tailored Maintenance Contracts, Overhauls, Asset Performance Management, Upgrades and modernisations.

Where is the position located?

The position will be working from Customer site in Dampier. The successful candidate will need to reside in the Karratha area (FIFO is not offered for this position)

Roster? 5 on 2 off: Monday - Friday role

What will your typical day look like?

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor you will be responsible for effectively managing the inventory in the store at the place of employment and will assist with stock control, stock reconciliation, stock order and stock received/distributed. The Store person will be part of the wider Inventory and supply chain department and will assist in the upkeep of cost and time effective procedures which will in turn maintain the Inventory and Supply Chain’s operational needs.

  • Maintain an emphasis on safety at all times.

  • Receiving goods and storing appropriately in order

  • Processing sales/orders in a timely manner

  • Receipting received stock for entry into inventory system

  • Maintaining order in the store so that inventory can be accessed with ease and efficiency

  • Following supply chain procedures to ensure a consistent approach

  • Ad-hoc local deliveries and collections for customer requirements to assist with the needs of IME

  • Responding to store callouts as required providing excellent customer service.

  • Working towards the company’s overall objectives

  • Maintaining accurate information in inventory systems

  • Maintaining a clean safe work environment

  • Participate in JSA/Risk Assessments when required.

  • Identify and report all hazards/incidents/injuries/near misses/property damage and theft.

  • Abide by all company Policies and Procedures.

  • Participate in workplace inspections and safe work observations.

  • Ensure mandatory PPE is applied.

  • Must comply with mandatory random drug & alcohol testing.

  • Process return goods and applicable credits.

  • Organise Store ensuring stocks are stored correctly.

  • Ensure all relevant materials and equipment are booked in and out of storage areas, and inventory/financial records are kept up to date.

  • Maintain material and consumable stockpiles in a tidy state, ensuring quantities are sufficient at all times.

  • Ensure staff and visitors are aware of and follow processes/ procedures for depot yard/ store operations.

  • Keep a register for component tracking

  • Facilitate the testing and tagging of all portable electrical equipment in the depot as required and keep appropriate records.

  • Review and make recommendations on underutilised stock.

  • Perform tasks delegated by the Store Leader. 

  • Attend all toolbox talks and workplace safety meetings.

  • Record true and correct information on timesheets daily in a neat & timely manner (eg. hours, work orders, work location, time & date).

  • Undertake any training required for the position.

  • Notify Service Leader before the start of shift if you are sick and before leaving to go home during shift.

  • To be flexible with work hours when required.

  • The ability to prioritise workloads.

  • Must be able to work as part of a team, with or without supervision.

  • Health & Safety-As a member of the GE/RTIO team, you must be aware of all Health & Safety requirements particularly whilst on client sites.

  • Internal &/or External Customer/Client Focus-As most employees of GE work on RTIO sites, the role must always be mindful of RTIO’s perceptions & expectations.

  • Interpersonal Relationships-You must have the ability to quickly develop & maintain a professional working relationship with all levels throughout the organization.

  • Leadership-An inclusive style which enables all employees to feel they can approach the position to ensure that issues are highlighted & referred to management in a timely fashion.

  • Influence-You must be aware that how you conduct yourself & put forward ideas etc. will be under scrutiny.  Confidentiality is of the utmost importance.

  • Communication Skills-To have a good level of communication skills when communicating at all levels within the organization, to clients and suppliers.

  • Expected Achievements-Expected to be self-motivating and proactive. Gain a sound knowledge of the work environment within the maintenance section.

  • Planning, Organizing & Time Management-To be able prioritise workloads and organize and problem solve simple tasks within their job role.

  • Administration-To complete all forms, timesheets and other required documentation with descriptive information.
