Facilities Management and Ancillary Services - Macdonald Campus
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the supervisor, the engineman is responsible for the daily maintenance of all refrigeration and air conditioning equipment related to building environment as well as the operations of the Macdonald Powerhouse, Macdonald campus and its related systems.
Principal tasks and responsibilities:
Observes and registers instrument readings from various refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems. Performs the required adjustments according to established norms and maintains a daily logbook.
Verifies the air compressor and adjusts as required.
Verifies filters, motors, ventilators, dials, smoke‑duct controls, pilot lights, solenoids and air cylinders.
Verifies the operation, supervision and recording of control panels for cooling‑tower water‑treatment tests and restores appropriate balance as required.
Lubricates ventilation and air‑conditioning equipment according to the work schedule.
Purges, cleans and verifies antifreeze levels in air‑cooling systems and prepares these systems for summer load expectations.
Responds to calls concerning temperature and room environment and takes necessary corrective measures.
Makes minor repairs to and performs preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, fans, gauges, traps, fixtures, valves, pressure regulators, straps, filters, air ducts, smoke ducts, heating coils, thermostats, controls, cylinders, solenoids, pilot lights and motors.
Makes regular routine inspections and performs maintenance on all equipment and machinery pertaining to the operation of the boilers during the tour of duty, including distillation units, compressors and generators across campus.
Qualifications:
Three (3) years related experience, and a valid Class 4 stationary engine mechanics certification and Class B refrigeration certification is required with a Basic knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, control panels and water treatment. English and French functional spoken and read.
