Job Title: Standardization & Operational Excellence Specialist

Role Purpose :

The Regional Lead – Standardization & Operational Excellence is responsible for driving Lean transformation, process standardization, and continuous improvement across Maersk Contract Logistics (MCL) customer warehousing, cold storage, and distribution operations within the assigned region.

This role will act as a change agent, embedding Lean Six Sigma, Industrial Engineering, and performance management rigor into daily operations to improve safety, productivity, cost efficiency, service levels, and customer experience, while ensuring strong alignment with global MCL standardization frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence & CI Deployment:

  • Drive deployment of the regional Operational Excellence strategy
  • Lead DMAIC / Kaizen / Lean transformation initiatives across warehouses & cold stores
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute productivity, cost, and service improvement opportunities across inbound, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns processes.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in labor productivity, space utilization, equipment efficiency, inventory accuracy, OTIF, and quality metrics.

Standardization & Process Excellence :

  • Partner with Global & Regional MCL Standardization teams to define, localize, and deploy standard SOPs, work instructions, layouts, and best‑practice playbooks.
  • Drive process compliance and standard work adherence across sites using audits, maturity assessments, and governance routines.
  • Own benchmarking and best‑practice sharing across the region to scale proven CI solutions.

Site Maturity & Performance Management :

  • Lead Operational Maturity Assessments (Lean maturity, CI maturity, performance culture) across assigned sites.
  • Develop and track site‑specific improvement roadmaps with clear milestones, owners, benefits, and sustainability plans.
  • Establish and embed performance management systems:
    • KPI dashboards (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People)
    • Visual management & problem‑solving cadence
  • Drive structured root cause analysis (RCA) using 5‑Why, Fishbone, Pareto, SPC, and corrective action tracking.

Data, Analytics & Industrial Engineering:

  • Apply Industrial Engineering principles to optimize:
    • Manpower planning & labor standards
    • Slotting & layout optimization
    • MHE utilization & productivity
    • Process balancing & takt alignment
  • Use data analytics to quantify benefits and ensure ROI‑driven CI delivery.
  • Track CI pipeline benefits (cost, productivity, quality, capacity) with governance rigor.

Capability Building & Change Management:

  • Build CI capability across operations through training, coaching, and mentoring of site leaders and OpEx champions.
  • Design and deliver Lean Six Sigma, problem‑solving, 5S, and performance management training tailored for warehousing teams.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture, enabling frontline problem‑solving and employee engagement.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to site leadership on change management, transformation, and performance excellence.

Key Performance Indicators (Illustrative) :

  • Productivity improvement (% labor efficiency / UPH)
  • Cost take‑out / avoidance (YoY)
  • OTIF, inventory accuracy, and quality defect reduction
  • CI pipeline value realization vs plan
  • Site maturity score improvement
  • Training & certification penetration

Candidate Profile & Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or Business
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt / Black Belt preferred)

Experience:

  • 5–8+ years of experience in Warehousing, Contract Logistics, 3PL, Cold Chain, or E‑commerce operations
  • Demonstrated success leading Lean / Six Sigma / CI programs in multi‑site logistics environments
  • Strong hands‑on exposure to:
    • Warehouse operations (inbound -> inventory ->outbound ->Dispatch)
    • Performance management systems
    • Site transformation & standardization
  • Experience working in matrix/global organizations is an advantage

  • Strong analytical & problem‑solving capability
  • Ability to influence without authority and lead cross‑functional teams
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in fast‑paced, high‑scale environments
  • Strong change leadership mindset with execution discipline

Preferred:

  • Background in Warehousing / Contract Logistics / 3PL / E‑commerce
  • Experience with cold storage or regulated environments
  • Early joiners preferred
