What’s the role
Shell is seeking a Staff Well Site Supervisor to join its team in Olympus.
The Staff Well Site Supervisor role is a rotational position responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team including the Real Time Operations Center, Hypercare, Engineering, contractors, and service companies to safely deliver world‑class wells. During well execution, the Staff Well Site Supervisor fosters inclusion and engagement across the team, applying a project‑management approach to lead through others and achieve exceptional outcomes.
Accountabilities:
Responsible for HSSE – Integrates & champions internal HSSE programs in Operations. Actively promotes HSSE and Sustainable Development (SD) in all activities and ensures compliance with business principles. Including Management of Change, Personal and Process Safety. Including Incident Management and Emergency Response
Accountable for leading the safe operationalization of the well design. As an onsite project manager, they analyze and manage Project Resources (people, budget and equipment), Risks and SIMOPs
Responsible for delivering world class performance through application of continuous improvement ways of working to deliver well objectives. Supervisor is responsible to identify areas of opportunity (rig, program, ways of working) in pursuit of value creation.
Responsible to integrate support across functions, delivering work through others. The Shell Site Supervisor coordinates with the Real Time Operations Center, Operations, Lifecycle Engineering, Franchise teams, contractors and service companies
Responsible to ensure that all activities are performed in full compliance of the law (local regulator), company policies and standards
Lead onsite operations as a rotational Shell Site Supervisor and reports to the Well Operations Team Lead (WOTL), with the expectation of periodic rotations into the office
Well Delivery - Operations
Significant stakeholder management, both internally (Wells Organization) and externally (Rig Contractors, service companies) during well execution and as delegated by WOTL or Lead site supervisor
Integrate worksite disciplines to ensure safe, efficient, and effective work program execution and captures opportunities to incorporate as continuous improvement
Supervise and ensure programs are executed in a safe and efficient manner and that all company procedures are fully honored
Responsible for logistics planning to ensure operations are conducted safely, performed on time and in accordance with execution programs.
Ensures adherence to change management procedures in the event of program modifications (MOC)
Responsible for leading well control management & operations in accordance with Shell Well Control Practices to ensure safety for people, the environment and assets
Responsible to verify materials and equipment were QA/QC’d
Responsible to provide feedback to support Root Cause Failure Analysis & Business Performance Reviews
Responsible for accurate time, cost and NPT reporting during operational activities at the well site
Provide feedback & participates in After-Action Reviews to incorporate lessons learned into performance, procedural & contractual improvement
Actively demonstrates curiosity, enthusiasm and humility. Seeks out diversity in thought and opinions from others to enhance project delivery
Create positive culture, behaviors and motivation in the field rig environment to sustain and improve HSSE, optimizing human and operational performance
Accountable for the promotion of an inclusive and harassment free workplace
Manage and monitor all health and social aspects on the work unit and encourage the enhancement of work environment and personnel welfare
Support the coaching and mentoring of trainees (e.g. Night Supervisor / Wellsite Engineer) assigned to the work unit. Take an active role in support of training and development of the Annual Team & Personal Performance management documents including Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and Goals & Performance Appraisals (GPAs)
Support Franchise implementation efforts within LoB, i.e. become part of Franchise System natural team
Monitor compliance of eWCAT for Well Control equipment and personnel
Responsible to Lead LOD 1 audits. Support LOD 2 & 3 audits and RCFA investigations
Responsible for Onsite Tool & Material QA/QC
Responsible to escalate changes affecting Well Objectives or Well Basis of Design to Life Cycle Engineer via RTOC
Responsible for ensuring Carbon Reduction plans are implemented at well or rig site
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Must have Technical Engineering or Associate degree
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, Well Control certification
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, regional work authorizations such as TWIC, and/or helicopter training
At least 10 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in contract execution
Ability to lead and manage in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Maximizing value to the assigned asset while embracing HSSE and E&C standards
Ability to manage shared accountabilities
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $167,000 - $251,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
