As a Staff Electrical Test Engineer at Boston Dynamics, you will play a pivotal role in the evolution of Atlas, our advanced humanoid robot. You will join a fast-moving team tackling the challenges of programming and testing a densely packed and complex electromechanical system.
Boston Dynamics is seeking candidates with hands-on experience designing and delivering turnkey test solutions. The ideal candidate will have expert-level proficiency in developing programming and testing embedded systems. To thrive in this role, you must be able to work efficiently on multiple development threads in separate, evolving contexts.
How you will make an impact / Day-to-Day Activities:
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans for humanoid compute cores for validation, bring-up, and production environments
Design and maintain automated test fixtures and software for robust board-level diagnostics
Utilize Linux command-line tools and scripting (Python/Bash/etc.) to configure radios/networks/peripherals, execute tools, gather Linux stats, and automate testing
Lead troubleshooting efforts for PCBA failures, working with design engineers and suppliers to drive root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Define and optimize test procedures to improve efficiency, test coverage, and scalability in production
Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure consistent test coverage and quality control standards
Evaluate and integrate new test methodologies, tools, and equipment to enhance reliability and reduce cycle times
Document test procedures, results, and best practices to support sustained production scalability
We are looking for / You Bring:

Hands-on Experience: 5+ years of proficiency / experience testing and troubleshooting electronics with standard test equipment
Linux & Networking: Good Proficiency with Linux command line and computer networking concepts
Embedded Systems Knowledge: Knowledge in a broad range of electronics including power and high speed communications
Embedded Test Knowledge: Knowledge of circuit board DfX and manufacturing test best practices
Test Automation: Competency with Python, LabView, and/or MATLAB
Education: BS or MS (preferred) in Electrical Engineering or related field
Nice to have:
Advanced Testing: Proficiency in operating advanced RF test equipment (High-speed oscilloscopes, VNAs, Spectrum Analyzers, Anritsu MT8000A/MT8862)
Wireless Standards: Experience using WiFi and Cellular standards and protocols
Electronics Background: Knowledge in a broad range of electronics, including power and high-speed communications
Design: Experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software, preferably using Altium.
Firmware: Familiarity with low-level embedded firmware (C/C++)
The base pay range for this position is between $116,000 to $160,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This range represents a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
