Purpose:
The Senior Systems Engineer serves as an integral member of the End User Technology Team, overseeing workstation deployment services and providing robust support for Athene’s IT hardware and software infrastructure. This position entails technical leadership in cloud-based deployments, scalable infrastructure architecture, and the comprehensive administration of Microsoft Intune environments. The ideal candidate will champion continuous improvement strategies, offer mentorship to junior engineers, and consistently deliver superior customer service to the end user community.Accountabilities:
Administer desktop compliance, deployment, and automated maintenance utilizing Intune (Autopilot, Autopatch, PatchMyPc, Aternity, and associated automation tools).
Utilize advanced scripting skills (such as PowerShell and Python) to drive process automation and improvement.
Manage the technical components of Intune, Azure Cloud, and third-party deployment services.
Provide robust support for virtual desktop infrastructures, including AVD and Citrix platforms.
Apply expertise in Azure Active Directory.
Architect large-scale IT infrastructure solutions aligned with organizational objectives and technical standards.
Analyze system impacts; communicate outages, resolutions, and recovery plans effectively to stakeholders.
Monitor performance metrics and spearhead initiatives focused on system, design, and process optimization.
Develop and execute long-term lifecycle management strategies for hardware and software.
Lead medium to large-scale projects as the technical representative, ensuring effective execution and scalability.
Partner with vendors and actively participate in procurement and RFP processes.
Oversee and manage operational costs within systems under purview.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of IT’s cross-departmental roles and contributions.
Mentor junior staff and substantially contribute to their professional development.
Qualifications and Experience:
5+ years of IT engineering experience supporting enterprise-level platforms; Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience required.
Deep expertise in Microsoft Intune, M365, Azure AD, and modern endpoint management platforms, with strong proficiency in PowerShell and automation.
Hands-on experience with automated patching, OS and third-party application maintenance, and cloud/virtual desktop environments (AVD, Citrix).
Skilled in identity and access management, including Microsoft MFA, SSO, and conditional access; Okta MFA experience is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to lead and execute complex infrastructure initiatives, with solid project management capabilities and familiarity with SDLC methodologies.
Proven experience building strategic partnerships and providing mentoring within technical teams.
