A Sr. Maintenance Worker job is available with the City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department/Solid Waste Division. This position will assist with the collection, consolidation, and storage of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). The position will have consistent interaction with the citizens of Fort Worth and the surrounding cities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of general maintenance and/or construction experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of hazardous waste consolidation
  • Vehicle trailering experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Equipment preventive maintenance experience

The Senior Maintenance Worker job responsibilities include:

  • Consolidation of non-hazardous and hazardous waste
  • Transport of non-hazardous waste utilizing a pickup and trailer
  • Preventive maintenance of large consolidation equipment
  • Daily operation of a forklift
  • Ability to follow daily safety practices.
  • Ability to input data into the Environmental software program

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demands

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
