Valuation Specialist is an experienced professional supporting the Valuation group and valuation function at AIMCo, ensuring assets are measured at fair value in accordance with Valuation Policy and procedures. The Specialist is expected to establish strong working relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to the team, carrying out daily pricing and validation activities, preparation of reports, responding to questions and addressing issues with day-to-day pricing, preparation of segments of a valuation process or valuation analysis under the guidance of more senior team members.

The position responsibilities are concentrated on gaining experience in the valuation of investment assets and an understanding of valuation theory. While work is initially performed under the review of a Manager or Senior Manager, experience and a demonstrated understanding of theory and procedures will allow the analyst to operate with more independence.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Execute daily and quarterly valuation processes and procedures, maintaining compliance with internal controls. This includes maintenance of valuation templates and models, preparation and presentation of valuation recommendations, and completion of assigned projects within established timelines.
  • Collaborate with investment team members, business technology, and investment operations teams to promote efficiency and transparency of information flows and to build a thorough understanding of systems, processes, and assigned investment portfolios.
  • Assist in the development and revision of valuation procedures aimed at improving accuracy and efficiency of valuation processes.
  • Work with analysts, associates, and portfolio managers to ensure receipt of adequate information for valuation analysis and responds to questions about portfolio valuation.
  • Promote open collaboration with Investment Operations team members for efficient flow of information and data, responding to questions and troubleshooting data issues.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Financial Mathematics, Business, Finance, Economics.
  • Enrollment in one of CPA, CBV, CFA, FRM, AACI.
  • 3 to 5 years of working experience in an accounting, financial, or investment role. Experience in roles requiring strong internal control framework would be ideal. Experience in or exposure to financial analysis and modelling through academic background would be ideal.
  • Understanding of IFRS accounting standards, internal controls.
  • Demonstrated interest in private investments or derivative valuation and modelling.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
