Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role
As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner - Refuge, this is your opportunity to deliver high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent full-time role, located in Coburg North, VIC.
How you will make an impact
Build strong relationships with clients that support self-determination and follow the National Family Violence Model of Care
Provide specialist case management and crisis support with ongoing assessment and collaborative planning that is led by the victim survivor
Support access to holistic services advocate when required and ensure progress is monitored for those in refuge or transitional accommodation
Work closely with specialist practitioners housing teams and external services to maintain consistent support and meet accommodation guidelines
Maintain accurate records identify risks or service gaps and meet key performance indicators according to organisational requirements
What you will bring
A Tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related field
Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Workers (Recommendation 209)
Demonstrated case management experience and skills
Experience in the family violence sector including specialist family violence or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
A current full VIC drivers licence and employee Working with Children Check

Compensation is in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 5
