About the Position
Supervisory & Operational Oversight:
- Supervise Skilled Trades Worker positions
- Lead, coach, and develop Skilled Trades Worker positions
- Coordinate maintenance of landfill structure and equipment
- Oversee heavy equipment associated with skilled trades group
- Ensure regulatory compliance
- Monitor landfill conditions and corrective actions
Maintenance Planning & Compliance:
- Develop and incorporate preventative maintenance programs for equipment, buildings, and grounds
- Maintain records and inspections
- Coordinate with engineering, contractors, and environmental on projects
- Lead and demonstrate safety polices and conduct safety meetings and training
- Assist in budget preparation and track/monitor expenses related to maintenance operations
Administrative & Support:
- Prepare reports and documentation
- Respond to inquiries and maintenance requests
- Assist management with special projects, capital projects, and long-term planning initiatives
About The Schedule
Work Hours:
- Scheduled Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- 40- hour work week
- Rotation Week: Monday - Saturday
- Schedule will vary depending on departmental needs
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in job related field
- -OR- 2-year Associates degree AND two (2) years of job related experience
- -OR- High school diploma AND four (4) years of job related experience
- -AND- 1-year of supervisory experience in job related field
- A valid Florida Driver’s License from the time of hire
- The ability to obtain a Florida Landfill Operator certification and Stormwater Inspector certification within six (6)months from the time of hire
Preferred "BONUS" Qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of landfill operations, maintenance practices, and environmental regulations
- Skilled in operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret prints, plans, specifications, and regulatory documents
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $31.17 - $33.50/ hour, based on experience
