Job Summary:

Main purpose of the role:

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join the Trade Processing team within the Front Office Solutions (FOS) group at MUFG Securities Americas Inc. This team is responsible for a suite of internally developed applications that support multiple trading desks in achieving their business objectives. As part of FOS, you’ll collaborate closely not only with fellow technologists but also with front-office stakeholders, including traders and sales teams, to deliver high-impact solutions. The systems include, but are not limited to:

•             Straight-through processing systems

•             Position management systems

•             Allocation and confirmation systems

•             Trade reconciliations systems.

•             Affiliate Clearing systems.

This role provides an opportunity to build impactful systems that enhance trading workflows and front-office performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with front office users, traders, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, technical solutions.

  • Deliver projects within an Agile development framework to develop high-quality, reliable software that meets the expectations of our business users.

  • Promote secure, resilient development practices that minimize operational risk and meet MUFG security standards and policies.

  • Maintain clear technical and procedural documentation to support internal audits, compliance reviews, and knowledge transfer.

  • Provide hands-on production support for front office applications, including rapid incident response, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution.

  • Lead and contribute to modernization initiatives, including migrating applications to cloud platforms and adopting cloud-native design patterns.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Full stack developer with 6-10 years of experience.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or other related technical majors, or equivalent practical experience with a strong foundation in programming and software development.

  • Competence in Java development or other object-oriented programming languages.

  • Strong experience with Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and message technologies such as JMS and MQ.

  • Experience with Junit or other unit and integration testing frameworks.

  • Proficiency in SQL / relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server.

  • Familiarity with LINUX / Unix environments and scripting.

  • Experience with front-end technologies (React, Javascript, HTML/CSS)

  • Understanding of financial products and trading workflows.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and production issue resolution.

Plus:

  • Experience with Hibernate/JPA and Apache Camel.

  • Experience with multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git, Maven, SDA) and project management tools (Jira, Confluence).

  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Snowflake)

  • Worked with application security and vulnerability remediation tools (Veracode)

  • Implemented solutions using real-time electronic communication protocols (FIX protocol)

  • Familiarity with electronic trading platforms (Bloomberg TOMS, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, Murex)

Education:

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience

The typical base pay range for this role is between $143k - $182k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
