Position SummaryThe Front-End UI Developer builds intuitive, accessible, and performant user interfaces that power BMS’s global Patient Safety and Risk Minimization applications. As a key engineering member within Worldwide Patient Safety IT, as part of the Drug Development IT organization, the Front-End UI Developer will translate complex safety workflows into simple, usable experiences using ReactJS and modern UI engineering practices, collaborating closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Solution Architects, QA/Validation, and other Operations across Hyderabad and New Jersey. This role emphasizes hands‑on delivery and craftsmanship with moderate guidance from senior engineers/developers and tech leads while adhering to our regulated SDLC.

Key Responsibilities· Implement responsive, accessible web experiences using ReactJS (hooks, context, state management), TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS/SCSS.
· Build reusable UI components, client‑side routing, and data‑driven views that integrate with REST APIs and microservices.
· Develop and maintain design‑system–aligned components and ensure consistency across applications.
· Leverage Figma artifacts to convert specs into pixel‑accurate implementations, raising clarifying questions and proposing UX improvements when appropriate.
· Partner with UX Center of Excellence team, Product Managers and UX designers to iterate rapidly on interactive prototypes (Figma) and validate flows with stakeholders; propose alternatives grounded in usability, accessibility (WCAG), and performance.
· Contribute to design reviews and ensure UI solutions meet product acceptance criteria in regulated contexts.
· Write unit/integration tests (e.g., React Testing Library) and support end‑to‑end test automation while upholding code quality.
· Optimize performance and reliability (error boundaries, retry strategies, telemetry).
· Follow BMS SDLC, documentation, and validation practices (traceability, reviews, change control) expected in GxP environment.
· Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, demos, and retrospectives while delivering story‑level commitments reliably.
· Coordinate across Product, Architecture, Engineering, QA/Validation, and Operations. Support L2/L3 teams during releases with guidance from Senior Developers/Engineers.
Qualifications & Experience· 3 to 5+ years of professional experience building production UIs.
· ReactJS with TypeScript/JavaScript (hooks, context, component composition, state management).
· Figma proficiency for reading specs, interpreting design tokens, and collaborating on design systems.
· Strong fundamentals in HTML5/CSS, responsive layout, accessibility (WCAG), & cross‑browser compatibility.
· Testing with Jest/React Testing Library (or similar), bundling/build tooling (Webpack/Vite), and package management (npm/yarn).
· Experience with Angular or NodeJS for front‑end build tooling, server‑side rendering, or lightweight back‑end integration tasks.
· Ability to consume APIs built in Java/Spring Boot and familiarity with request/response contracts, basic SQL to collaborate with PostgreSQL data.
· Exposure to BPM‑enabled UIs (e.g., Camunda task forms) and micro‑frontends is a plus.
· Practical use of AI‑assisted development tools (code copilots) to bootstrap components, tests, refactors, and documentation while validating outputs for security, accessibility, and performance.
· Experience in AI prompting and evaluating LLM outputs for UI tasks (e.g., generating unit tests, extracting acceptance criteria) with appropriate guardrails.
· Experience in Agile methodologies and project management tools, such as JIRA.
· Experience in life‑sciences or other regulated environments (GxP).
· Should have user‑centric mindset with strong attention to detail and quality.
· Demonstrate clear, proactive communication, be collaborative and open to feedback.
· Possess “growth mindset”, being eager to learn new skills.
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
· Certifications in AWS, Agile/Scrum, or UI/UX are a plus.
