Job Summary: About the Position: Serves as a U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Social Services Assistant in clinics or units providing assistance for the Family Advocacy Program.

Major Duties:

  • Work under the supervision of a social worker Family Advocacy Program (FAP) supervisor who sets the overall objectives, resources, and decisions available.
  • Collaborate with a licensed clinical social worker in recommending treatment plans and provides case management services to include ensuring that an approved treatment plan approved is carried out by the client.
  • Interview clients to provide information about the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and the incident determination process.
  • Coordinate services with the installation Victim Advocate for resources, emergency shelter information, protective orders, and other supportive services in spouse/intimate partner cases.
  • Report individual's treatment compliance and progress when case reviews are scheduled and maintain appropriate case records according to standards of professional practice.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Recommending treatment plans and providing case management services; 2) Assisting social workers in the assessment and follow-up on cases of suspected or documented child maltreatment and neglect and domestic abuse; AND 3) Maintaining appropriate case records according to standards of professional practice. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
