Position Summary:
Provide credible product and design expertise and be more effective downstream with the customers selling our products. Influence downstream specifications for single family and multi-family new construction, with the goal of driving upgrade carpet and hard surface sales mix opportunities in these channels. This position will also bring real expertise to our existing teams in the areas of product development, sample and merchandising design and channel-specific marketing. This role adds significant value to what we bring to the builders and subcontractors and allows us to be the solution provider in this area for our builder and multi-family customers.
This position will cover the Central Region (heaviest focus in Texas and Colorado, but to include Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas) with the candidate living in Texas.
Qualifications:
Two or four-year degree or certification in the field of design preferred.
Must have a minimum of two years actual builder design center consulting experience or equivalent builder design center operational knowledge.
Must have a working knowledge of options management systems and process flows within a builder or subcontractor design center.
Must possess excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat is a plus
Must already possess a strong design consulting background and will use that foundation to ultimately become a flooring expert in this channel. Shaw will provide the training for the flooring aspect of this assignment
Must be willing and able to travel regionally from base location. Some travel will be required outside of assigned region. The level of travel will be approximately 50%-60% of work time in the field.
Job Responsibilities:
Establish strategic working relationships with home builders, designers, flooring subcontractors and Shaw sales teams to facilitate the driving of Shaw flooring specifications.
Travel and host sales/designer events with builder and subcontractor designers/managers/decision makers on design, product trends, product
installation, and product features and benefits. This includes managing budgets, contracts, travel, meals, training content, and activities coordination.
Increase upgrade sales percentages and improving our product mix in our single-family + multi-family builder business.
Add expertise and support in the areas of product coordination, sample and merchandising presentation, and an understanding of design center sales and options management.
Provide credible design center management expertise to builder and subcontractor customers and be the solution provider in this area for customers. This includes design consultation, creation of design packages to include all interior finish selections, design center space planning and design, marketing, and merchandising.
Provide design expertise, coordinated flooring and other finish concepts for the multifamily segment of Shaw's business.
Direct alignment with customer-facing, product, and consumer insight marketing team to create, support, and manage all aspects of marketing to internal sales team and customers.
Add support as needed to National Accounts marketing and design needs.
Develop and submit content for internal and external digital communication publications.
Offer design consultation, training, and education, including CEU programs and trend speeches to large audiences.
Work with the marketing teams to create and promote strong storytelling surrounding product launches to customers, social media, and the press.
Work with R&D design and product development group to collectively learn about new home design preferences and trends for the overall benefit of improving Shaw's product development effectiveness in carpet and hard surface by gathering and sharing competitive design intelligence, market needs, and trend information for internal education, social media content development and development of new product directions.
Alignment with specification and sales teams to identify, plan, and execute sales goals. This includes but is not limited to multifamily and single-family end users, product mix improvement, and end-user relationship building and maintenance
