Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You'll Get To Do:
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. The successful candidate will help drive execution and must be able to effectively communicate with higher-level leadership. You will interface across all elements and sub-elements within Support & Training as well as coordinate with other program and SDS division leaders. A successful track record of program performance, EVMS, interpersonal team building skills, and management experience is highly desired.
Responsibilities:
Integrate and manage between program Segments and supporting functional teams by performing tactical day to day operations.
Coordination with program assignment managers to understand staffing requirements.
Performing work related to planning, monitoring, and controlling work scope within your assigned program area.
Review status of projects and budget, manage schedules, assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Develop mechanisms for monitoring and reporting project progress and for intervention and problem solving with senior management and managers.
Coordinate schedules and provide liaison assistance between the interfacing IPTs.
Coordinating regularly with Infrastructure IPT leadership to ensure that leadership is aware of the latest status and areas of concern.
Coordinate and prepare executive and customer presentations.
Project Execution.
Interfacing directly with Control Account Managers (CAMs), Work Package Leads (WPLs), and other stakeholders as needed to collect the supplemental information required to provide thorough variance explanations, change rationales, and other outputs.
Ensure IPT compliance with program processes and procedures and implement improvements.
Generating Change Control Board packages and Budget Change Requests in coordination with CAMs and WPLs and support briefings to the appropriate review boards.
Maintaining consistency and high quality of project management work products.
Team building.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
Principal Project Manager: 5 Years with Bachelors; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD. In lieu of formal degree, 4 years of relevant experience may be considered.
Senior Principal Project Manager: 8 Years with Bachelors; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. In lieu of formal degree, 4 years of relevant experience may be considered.
Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need.
Experience with requirements development and/or verification planning.
Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
Working knowledge of Project Management principles.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
At least five years of experience in leading projects or cross-functional teams.
Experience in briefing executive leadership.
Ability to obtain Control Account Manager (CAM) certification.
Strong foundation in EVMS knowledge.
Proficiency in Atlassian tool suite.
Advanced Excel Skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review.
Ability to provide and implement solutions to advanced problems which require ingenuity and innovation.
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Experience with CAM responsibilities.
Experience in DoD programs.
Ability to obtain SAP clearance.
Experience working RCCAs.
Experience in operating within Six Sigma principles.
PMP Certification.
