Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 to join a multi-functional team of Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems Engineers in Roy, UT. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Program.

The primary objective of this role is to collaborate across Systems Engineering, System Test, Global Supply Chain, suppliers, and other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to develop and review Environmental Control System hardware requirements, specifications, designs, trade studies, and analyses for the purpose of supporting incremental system maturity milestones and hardware deliveries. The successful candidate will be comfortable with working in a dynamic people-focused environment and collaborating across multiple internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve organizational goals.
This position is a dual-hatted role that involves both individual contributions as a senior engineer in the Mechanical domain (80%), as well as people leadership in a functional management homeroom (20%).
What You’ll Get to Do:
Collaborate with stakeholders to decompose technical requirements, develop complete and verifiable requirements, and conduct trade studies
Generate and update specifications as part of a Systems Engineering framework for the purpose of releasing to suppliers and supporting the procurement process
Develop design and analysis artifacts to support design reviews, customer deliverables, and hardware procurement workflows
Perform heating and cooling calculations to size HVAC equipment
Select appropriate HVAC / Power equipment to meet size and system requirements
Review and provide comments on supplier-submitted drawings and contractual deliveries
Ensure team members have the required training, tools, and access to perform design engineering responsibilities.
Provide support for Earned Value Management System (EVMS). Support the development and track key performance cost and schedule metrics.
Develop and review engineering packages for product lifecycle management release.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM field plus 8 years of experience, or Master's Degree in STEM field plus 6 years of experience
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
Experience with CAD modeling standards, techniques, and tools (Siemens NX preferred)
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools (Siemens Teamcenter preferred)
Experience working with requirements and translating into mechanical designs
Experience in a technical leadership position
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Heating, Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC) system design and verification
Experience with Carrier HAP and Autodesk Revit
Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience with estimation, bidding, proposals, or RFPs
Working knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and plant controls
Previous experience as an engineering manager

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
