Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Senior Threat Intelligence Researcher to be part of making that happen.   

   

About the Role

This senior-level threat intelligence role leads long-term research campaigns and serves as a technical authority on complex adversary operations. Responsibilities include coordinating deep-dive analysis, driving analytical rigor, and interfacing with cross-functional teams including policy, product, and customer-facing groups. The role requires expertise in attribution, infrastructure mapping, and threat ecosystem modeling, with a strong understanding of geopolitical influences and malware evolution. Success is demonstrated through strategic reporting, mentorship, and contributions to industry forums and intelligence-sharing communities.

Job Scope

Drives long-term intelligence campaigns and acts as a technical lead for critical research efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate analysis of sophisticated adversary operations.

  • Drive analytical rigor, tradecraft, and threat validation.

  • Interface with policy, product, and customer-facing teams on threat matters.

  • Develop subject matter expertise in nation-state or cybercrime ecosystems.

Expert Positioning Goal

  • Deliver presentations at international CTI conferences (e.g., FIRST, SANS CTI Summit).

Example Key Results

  • Defined threat ecosystem model influencing 2-year strategy.

  • Mentored staff across 3 business units in intelligence tradecraft.

  • Produced 5 high-visibility reports shared with strategic partners.

Complexity & Problem Solving

Designs repeatable frameworks for attribution, clustering, and campaign tracking. Tackles ambiguity in threat analysis and develops structured arguments under uncertainty.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience conducting attribution assessments, infrastructure mapping, and behavioral clustering.

  • Acts as an internal SME on threat actor ecosystems and geopolitical trends influencing threat activity.

  • Builds actor dossiers, ecosystem models, and forecasting scenarios.

  • Regular contributor to inter-org intelligence exchanges, ISACs, or threat sharing coalitions.

  • Comfortable analyzing malware family evolution and campaign infrastructure reuse at scale.

  • Experience influencing detection and policy with research outputs and strategy briefs.

Collaboration & Interaction

Interfaces with legal, risk, and product teams; drives threat posture assessments and special projects.

Achieve Results

Authors intelligence that directly informs executive strategy or operational response.

Security Requirements

The base salary range for this job family is 85,000.00 to 278,000.00 AUD annually. This range reflects the base pay the company reasonably expects to offer for this position, aligned to the broader job family base pay structure. Actual base pay may vary based on skills, experience, and location, including job family level. In addition to base pay, Arctic Wolf offers variable incentive compensation, new hire equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
