WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
To provide the level of expertise required to implement, support and maintain all services under the mandate of the Production Mainframe Services team, and to
strive for the highest possible productions systems availability in support of our dependent clients and businesses
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Plan and execute weekend maintenance to provide minimal disruption to the production environment.
Follow established Service Now guidelines for implementing change into the Production environment.
Provide the necessary support to ensure the highest level of service for all online systems.
Responsible for ensuring day to day problems of a technical nature within the mainframe systems are dealt with quickly and efficiently or otherwise escalated to the appropriate areas within Technology and Operations.
Responsible for following up on all outstanding problems to reduce the possibilities of future service outages and/or interruption, degradation.
Responsible for the seemless implementation of all hardware and software changes.
Deals with hardware engineers to ensure prompt follow up on problems and preventive maintenance requirements.
Ability to work shift work, including evening, nights and weekend
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must haves:
Requires a specialized blend of deep legacy system knowledge, automation scripting proficiency, and strong analytical skills to maintain system stability and optimize performance. Key skills include expertise in IBM z/OS, automation tools like IBM System Automation, REXX scripting, and proficiency in JCL
Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of IBM z/OS architecture, components, and functionalities.
Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in REXX, JCL (Job Control Language), and Python for automating system tasks, monitoring, and batch processing.
Monitoring & Tools: Familiarity with tools such as IBM OMEGAMON, CA SYSVIEW, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF.
Modernization & DevOps: Knowledge of mainframe-to-cloud integration, RESTful APIs, and DevOps practices (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
Experience: 5+ years in mainframe environments.
Responsibilities: Monitoring, scheduling, and optimizing batch jobs, system tuning, capacity planning, and implementing disaster recovery strategies.
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex, high-pressure, mission-critical issues and perform root cause analysis.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous analysis of code and configurations to prevent outages.
Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex issues into clear, actionable reports.
Continuous Learning: A proactive, curious, and adaptable mindset to keep pace with evolving mainframe and cloud technologies.
Nice-to-have:
Certifications: IBM Certified System Programmer or Administrator is highly valued.
