The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Recruiter to join our Global Recruiting team and help scale our North America R&D (Engineering & Product) and Global G&A (Finance, Legal, People) organizations.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll lead full-cycle recruiting across some of the most critical functions at Cockroach Labs. You’ll act as a strategic talent partner, combining human intuition with data and technology to attract exceptional talent that fuels our growth.
You’ll collaborate closely with leaders across the business, using market insights, recruiting analytics, and a deep understanding of our culture to guide hiring decisions that align with our long-term goals.
You Will
- Own the full-cycle recruiting process for roles across R&D and G&A: from intake to close, ensuring a world-class candidate and stakeholder experience.
- Design creative sourcing strategies that blend AI-enabled tools, automation, and your recruiter instincts to uncover and engage diverse, high-caliber talent.
- Act as a trusted talent advisor, providing market data, compensation insights, and strategic guidance to leaders (including VP+ and the Executive team).
Partner cross-functionally with Recruiting Operations, HRBPs, FP&A, and Legal to ensure alignment and operational excellence across the hiring process. - Champion diversity and inclusion, embedding equitable hiring practices and proactive sourcing strategies that reflect our values and strengthen our culture.
- Leverage data and insights, analyzing recruiting metrics like pipeline conversion rates, time-to-fill, and sourcing effectiveness, to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
- Experiment with AI and automation to enhance efficiency, improve candidate engagement, and streamline operational workflows.
- Immerse yourself in our teams and culture, attending team meetings, offsites, and events to build authentic relationships and represent Cockroach Labs with credibility and heart.
The Expectations
- In your first 30 days, we want you to learn about our product and teams inside and out. To attract top talent, you need to have a deep understanding of what makes our company special and exciting from both a people and a product standpoint. We encourage you to become involved in formal conversations like team meetings and find informal meet-greet opportunities to get to know your client groups across R&D and G&A. Your job during this time is to be a sponge!
- By 60 days, you will have a strong grasp of our recruiting processes and tools. You will have shadowed recruiter screens and observed Kick-Offs, Hiring Committee Reviews after completing onsite interviews. You will have worked alongside the team during their sourcing efforts to understand the tools and resources we use to engage candidates. Working with the R&D and G&A leaders, you'll understand our current and future headcount and identify key focus areas going forward.
- After 90 days, you'll be fully integrated into the team. You will have taken over the process for some of our existing roles and lead your first-of-many hiring kick-offs for new roles. You’ll focus on the efficiency of our recruiting process and identify areas for improvement for our interviews. You may have your first candidate(s) coming onsite for interviews and will be meeting regularly with key stakeholders within the R&D and G&A organizations to ensure recruiting needs are being addressed.
You Have
- 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience within high-growth technology or enterprise SaaS companies.
- Proven success recruiting across Engineering, Product, and G&A (Finance, Legal, People) roles.
- Deep knowledge of diverse talent landscapes across Engineering, Product, and G&A, with a strong track record of closing niche-senior searches. Brings talent insights into compensation benchmarks, talent mobility, and hiring trends, helping to inform strategic decisions and offers to your stakeholders. Previous experience recruiting for Technical and G&A roles is needed.
- Proven success recruiting across roles at all levels in Engineering, Product, and G&A.
- Strong sourcing capabilities and fluency in modern recruiting tools (e.g., Gem, Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, etc.) Experience leveraging AI or automation tools to streamline the recruiting process is a plus.
- Experience building and executing structured interview processes, competency-based evaluations, and scalable recruiting frameworks.
- Deep understanding of market dynamics, compensation benchmarks, and the competitive talent landscape to make data driven decisions.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with a consultative, data-informed approach.

Miguel has been at Cockroach Labs for just under 5 years and leads recruiting efforts across R&D and G&A. With nearly 15 years of experience spanning high-growth technology companies (from startups through IPO) to quantitative hedge funds, Miguel is passionate about building trusted, long-term relationships with his team, stakeholders, and candidates.
Originally from San Francisco, Miguel stays true to his roots but now proudly calls South Slope, Brooklyn home with his wife and young son. A lifelong Golden State Warriors fan and avid golfer, he brings the same focus and energy to building great teams as he does to perfecting his golf swing and rooting for the Dubs.
