Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer - MDC Deputy Fleet Chief to join our Out of Production Program for Customer Support in Seal Beach, California.

This position is responsible for overseeing support activities for Out of Production customers (717, MD-10/-11/-80/-90, DC-3/-8,-9/-10) and is responsible for hosting Fleet Team Calls, Fleet Team Meetings, as well as overseeing implementation of activities to resolve fleet issues. 

The successful candidate will work with the Out of Production program as well as directly with airlines by supporting Executive and Technical Review Meetings. The role works closely with Suppler Quality and Supplier teams to address in-service supplier quality and reliability findings and develop corrective actions. Significant collaboration with Field Service, Service Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Charlie Works teams.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers
  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements
  • Works with customers and management to obtain approval
  • Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules
  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity
  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned
  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
  • Works under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):           

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9 or more years' related work experience
  • 5+ year(s) experience leading/managing technical projects
  • 5+ year(s) experience leading cross functional teams or projects
  • Must be willing to support occasional non-standard working hours as needed to engage with global customers or stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 14 or more years' related work experience
  • 7+ years’ experience leading/managing technical projects
  • 7+ years’ experience leading cross functional teams or projects
  • Project Management Certification (ex. PMP)
  • Experience building and managing to integrated project plans, schedules and/or budgets
  • Experience working with commercial airplane systems or structures disciplines within design, maintenance or service engineering

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $146,200 - $197,800

Summary Pay Range (Level 5): $176,800 - $239,200
