Senior Product Manager – Service Delivery Ocean

Maersk’s Ocean business is at a structural inflection point. The competitive dynamics of global container shipping are intensifying, and the margin between good and great has never been thinner. Becoming the world’s Best Ocean Operator demands more than incremental gains — it requires a step change in how our operations are designed, standardised, and continuously improved across our global network.

Operational excellence at Maersk’s scale is not a single initiative. It is the cumulative result of hundreds of well-designed processes, consistently executed across regions and functions, supported by the right tools, and continuously refined as the business evolves. The Ocean business touches every corner of our network — from vessel planning and port execution to cargo handling and customer delivery — and the quality of how we operate in each of those domains directly determines our cost base, our service reliability, and ultimately our commercial competitiveness.

To achieve this, Maersk is investing in a new generation of functional product ownership within Ocean. These roles carry end-to-end accountability for specific operational domains — driving process standardisation, closing performance gaps, embedding best practices, and delivering the structural efficiencies that underpin our ambition to operate with a competitive cost base and industry-leading service quality. Where technology, smarter tooling, or process automation can accelerate outcomes and build sustainable capability, this role is expected to identify and champion those opportunities.

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager — Service Delivery Ocean to fill one of these Functional Product Owner (FPO) roles. This position carries senior-level accountability and high visibility across the organisation, and is central to Maersk’s ability to set and sustain the operational standard expected of the world’s Best Ocean Operator.

About the Role: The Ocean Product organisation builds the capabilities that enable consistent, scalable execution across our global logistics network. Functional Product Owners sit at the core of this organisation — combining deep domain understanding with the product and change leadership skills to turn operational ambition into durable, measurable reality.

As Senior Product Manager — Service Delivery Ocean, you will own the functional product vision, process architecture, and value delivery for your designated Ocean Operations domain. You sit at the intersection of operations, technology, and continuous improvement — translating real operational challenges into standardised, scalable capabilities. This is not a hands-off strategy role: you will engage closely with the people who run our operations, identify where friction and variability exist, and lead the work to resolve them systematically — driving process standardisation, closing performance gaps, embedding best practices, and building the organisational discipline to ensure improvements stick.

You will lead your domain from discovery and design through to implementation, operational adoption, and measurable value realisation — working closely with Technology, Operations, and regional teams globally to ensure that solutions land, are adopted, and deliver at scale.

What We Offer:

  • Enterprise-Level Impact: Own a domain that directly shapes Maersk’s ability to operate as the Best Ocean Operator — delivering measurable improvements in cost, service quality, and operational efficiency.
  • End-to-End Product Ownership: Own functional product vision, process scope, roadmap, and value delivery from concept through global operational deployment.
  • Executive Engagement: Work directly with senior leadership to shape priorities, track outcomes, and report on domain performance.
  • Operational Transformation at Scale: Build and embed capabilities that standardise how Ocean operates across regions, functions, and markets — driving sustainable, measurable change.
  • Global Scope: Influence operational performance across geographies, business verticals, and cross-functional teams.
  • Complexity and Consequence: Design solutions for one of the world’s most complex logistics networks, where process quality and execution discipline translate directly into commercial and operational outcomes.
  • High-Performance, Inclusive Environment: Operate in a fast-paced organisation that values diverse perspectives, rigorous thinking, and shared accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the Product Vision: Shape the strategic vision for your Ocean Operations domain, translating operational challenges and performance gaps into clear product and process opportunities aligned to Maersk’s Best Ocean Operator ambition.
  • Drive Process Standardisation and Operational Excellence: Lead the design, standardisation, and optimisation of complex, cross-functional processes within your domain — reducing variability, improving execution consistency, and unlocking efficiencies across the global network.
  • Own the Product Roadmap: Define and sequence value-driven roadmaps aligned with Service Delivery Ocean’s priorities, delivering both near-term operational improvements and longer-term capability build.
  • Identify and Lead Improvement Initiatives: Continuously identify opportunities to improve how Ocean operates — through better process design, smarter tooling, or tighter cross-functional coordination — and lead those initiatives through to delivery and adoption.
  • Integrate Across the Ocean Operating Model: Ensure solutions connect planning, execution, and commercial interfaces and align with related product and technology workstreams.
  • Drive Operational Adoption and Change Management: Work closely with global, regional, and country operations teams to embed process and product changes into daily workflows — driving sustainable adoption and managing the transition effectively.
  • Track Value Realisation: Define and track success metrics across cost efficiency, service quality, reliability, and productivity to ensure initiatives deliver sustained operational impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage frequently with operations, commercial, and technology stakeholders across regions and functions to ensure alignment, gather input, and drive outcomes.

What You Bring:

  • Operational Domain Expertise: Experience in Ocean, Logistics, or similarly complex operational environments with a strong understanding of execution workflows, process interdependencies, and cost-to-serve drivers.
  • Functional Product and Process Leadership: Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end functional product or process domains — defining strategy, driving standardisation, and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Structured Problem Solving: Ability to translate complex, ambiguous operational situations into clear problem definitions, structured approaches, and scalable solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: A strong orientation toward operational excellence — comfortable leading process redesign, driving efficiency initiatives, and building the discipline needed for sustained performance improvement.
  • Data and Analytics Fluency: Ability to use data and metrics to evaluate performance, test hypotheses, and make sound decisions. Experience working with data science or analytics teams is an advantage.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Ability to lead expert teams across operations, engineering, and commercial functions without direct authority — building alignment and driving delivery in a complex matrix organisation.
  • Execution and Change Delivery: Strong bias for execution with a track record of delivering measurable operational improvements and driving adoption of new ways of working across large, global organisations.
  • Adaptability and Learning Agility: Able to learn fast, prioritise effectively, and stay delivery-focused in a fast-moving and ambiguous environment.
