What is the Opportunity?
RBC offers an exciting role as a Senior Pension Advisor, Quality Assurance. In this role you will be responsible for establishing, leading and executing quality strategies that drive effective, efficient and accurate administration of the RBC Pension Plans. Ensure our processes meet or exceed established standards, deliver continuous improvement across the organization and elevate the employee and retiree experience.
What will you do?
Evaluate and provide advice regarding impact of new legislation, new HR initiatives or issues at the request of HR Employee Relations, HRBPs etc.
Reports and investigates issues; implements plans to address root causes.
Implement enhance and maintains regular controls and reports to validate and ensure proper audit controls are in place.
Leads continuous improvement processes to identify opportunities to enhance Pension Service effectiveness inclusive of administration and written responses to members and pensioner queries.
Develop, implement and maintain revisions/enhancements to pension administration systems.
Play a lead role in identifying Best Practices in Pension and Savings Administration.
Key player directly involved in projects and responsible for developing, implementing and conducting UAT as it pertains to plan and legislation changes.
Act as an escalation point for non-standard employee/management inquiries/issues/complaints pertaining to escalation/rulings/interpretation of pension policies, plan documents, quality procedures, regulations and legal requirements. Ensures quick, equitable, and courteous resolution.
Act as a Marriage Breakdown SME, calculate and review valuations and splitting of pension credits.
Act as a resource to advise Plan members and department staff on clarification, application of by-laws, legislation, and actuarial concepts in determining appropriate action to be taken in more complex cases.
Participates in implementation, testing and maintenance of changes/enhancements to the pension administration system.
Compliance
Ensures compliance with RBC internal control requirements, regulatory requirements and RBC HR policies and programs in the delivery of pension & benefits.
Takes leadership role and accountability for audits (internal RBC and external/regulatory). Ensures all processes, documentation and controls are “audit ready”. Takes accountability for remediation and action plans for any audit findings.
Ensures effective operational controls are in place, properly operated and reported; that defects and failures are highlighted and reported; that remediation plans are developed and actioned.
Ensures SOX and other RBC requirements are met and reported on as required.
Takes a proactive approach to operational risk by identifying, reporting and mitigating highlighted areas.
Fully participates in all required controls reporting (internal HRSS, EOP, Ops Risk, Internal Audit HR etc.).
Quality Assurance
Develop and execute test plans and test cases based on project requirements.
Establish and maintain a quality management system that outlines procedures for DB and DC processes.
Work closely with cross-functional teams.
Identify potential sources of error and conduct root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.
Create and expand Standard Operation Procedures.
