Senior Medical Education Specialist

Responsible for organising and implementing courses/meetings to support Medical Education and measurably accelerate adoption of S&N products and technologies for Vietnam.  Key priorities are to ensure clear learning objectives can be translated into selection criteria to ensure S&N interaction is compliantly in-line with global learning pathways per Franchise.

Support within this role includes attendance at all relevant courses, the set up and break down of required equipment and interaction with the faculty and delegates from a clinical standpoint.  Drives professional education planning of key programs from inception to completion, partnering with Marketing, Sales and Compliance to deliver the highest quality training opportunities for markets like Vietnam.

The Specialist plays a strategic role in determining the value of S&N Product Training and Education (PTE) Meetings & Visiting Surgeon Programmes (VSPs).  This includes making recommendations for changes and assessing consultants and participants to ensure appropriateness of training programs. The Specialist is also responsible for identifying training gaps in the marketplace and working with faculty develop and implement new training opportunities. 

Responsibilities: (Please specify % amount against each responsibility)

Pte Meetings, Digital Education (40 %)

• Plan, design and organize medical education programs taking place throughout Vietnam, in consultation with Marketing, including:

• Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure timely and successful implementation of the medical education plan.

• Manage national cadaveric courses, mini-labs, sawbones workshops, and meetings, including faculty liaison, program development, logistics, registration, budgeting, expense tracking, and post-event evaluations.

• Prepare program materials and resources for national courses and meetings and provide

   support for distributor driven and other product training activities.

• Attend educational programs and act as the first point of contact for faculty, participants,

   employees and suppliers.

• Set up, operate, and dismantle equipment for events, ensuring proper handling and maintenance.

• Understand the marketing strategy, including focus products within the various

   franchises/portfolios, to deliver medical education training programs.

• Develop and implement innovative digital education initiatives, creating an integrated learning ecosystem (offline, online, and hybrid) to meet surgeon education needs.

• Drive new medical education initiatives focused on key products and new product introductions (NPIs) in Vietnam.

• Enhance overall Connected Customer Experience 360 Degree Education Ecosystem with

   digital solutions like ENGAGE, CVENT, SNAO, Simulations, etc

• Track and manage related expenses, ensuring adherence to departmental and company budgets.

ASEAN Visiting Surgeon Programs and Reverse Visiting Surgeon Programs (VSP/RVSP) (10%)

• Serve as the main point of contact for ASEAN VSPs and Reverse VSPs, facilitating clear and proactive communication with host surgeons, visiting surgeons, and Sales & Marketing teams to manage availability and logistics.

• Manage VSP budgets and track associated expenses, ensuring compliance with forecasts.

Implement VSP processes, including booking systems, compliance approvals, and logistical coordination.

• Organize travel logistics for Reverse VSP host surgeons and collaborate with Sales staff to provide customized agendas.

• Ensure feedback collection and implement evaluation tools, contributing to local and international VSP reporting.

• Maintain accurate documentation and filing in line with compliance requirements.

PTE Meetings with Significant Travel (20%)

• Act as the primary contact for ASEAN surgeons attending international VSPs, courses, meetings and plant tours; liaising with Vietnam.  Sales and Marketing staff, as well as MedEd staff from other regions

• Create personalized itineraries in collaboration with MedEd teams from other regions.

• Track and process associated expenses, keeping within departmental/company budgets, as well as filing in accordance with GPPs

Professional Affairs/Compliance (15%)

• Ensure all compliance guidelines and policies are implemented relating to PTE Meetings including entries in Engage.

• Maintain periodical reports for local country, compliance, finance and medical education

• Administer consulting contracts/agreements to PTE meetings with health care professionals, ensuring approvals, spend, reporting and record retention is in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Engagement (10%)

• Identify and assess Vietnam Healthcare Professionals to engage as chairs and faculty for national and state-based PTE Meetings in Vietnam and act as the first point of contact.

Others (5%)


• Provide backup support for other ASEAN medical education functions as needed.

• Assist with regional events when hosted in ASEAN.

• Undertake ad hoc projects assigned by the medical education team.

• Ensure the work environment complies with Smith+Nephew’s health and safety policies.

•To always act in a responsible manner to avoid risk to self or to the

company and comply with the workplace safety and health and security

policy.

• Any other duties involved within the role and/ or the tasks as assigned

from time to time.

Location: Vietnam

Education:

• Tertiary qualifications in a clinical role/ Nursing or similar preferable in an orthopaedic or wound care or sport medicine discipline)

• Experience in Medical Education and course design desirable

• Event/project management qualifications

Experience:
• Experience in Surgeon Education, Professional Education or Compliance roles.

• Experience in Event Management

• Medical background or awareness and / or educational principles preferred

• Multi-national / cross cultural project management experience preferred

• Excellent stakeholder management

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proven track record of delivering a service proposition

• Excellent organizational skills

Competences:
