As part of Sabre’s Technical Accounting team, you will take on interesting and challenging responsibilities which include staying on the cutting-edge of new regulatory pronouncements, engaging in transaction advisory for non-routine transactions, and best-in-class technical writing. You will report to the VP of Global Accounting. The team is made up of collaborative, diligent, and diverse professionals that seek to support our corporate and business partners with the timely technical answers they need to drive value for stakeholders while upholding Sabre’s values.

You will have the opportunity to interact with a broad group of corporate and business partners: Treasury, Finance, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, BU Accounting teams, Legal, Tax, Internal Audit, Commercial teams, and Senior Management.

Responsibilities of the Senior Manager – Technical Accounting include:

  • Conduct and document insightful research of non-routine accounting transactions to conclude on the appropriate application of U.S. GAAP beyond auditor reproach.
  • Provide technical accounting support for contracts with customers, debt, M&A, divestitures including transition services, derivatives, capitalized software, cloud computing, leases, commitments and contingencies, foreign currency, and other related topics.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to international locations, including US GAAP interpretation in context of differences with IFRS and other local GAAP guidance.
  • Support the external auditor’s testing procedures of complex, non-routine transactions and related controls over financial reporting.
  • Supervise two ambitious technical accounting team members regarding various projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor the FASB, SEC, and PCAOB activities to identify any potential impact of new pronouncements and prepare technical accounting updates.
  • Key team member in the effort to implement new accounting guidance across the global organization, where applicable.
  • Assist in drafting footnotes and other required disclosures for our quarterly and annual filings with the SEC, as related to the areas of debt, derivatives, goodwill and intangibles, commitments and contingencies, and fair value.
  • Assist with various special projects as needed.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required
  • CPA license required

 

Required Experience & Skills:

  • At least eight (8) years of applicable technical experience, of which, several years at a “big 4” firm or comparable professional service firm are strongly preferred.
  • Experience with researching and accounting for non-routine, complex accounting concepts in accordance with US GAAP, including the preparation of technical memorandums that concisely document analyses and conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and truly exceptional written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with both the ambition and willingness to dive into the details necessary to accomplish responsibilities and solve problems.
  • Experience with accounting and financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, including the preparation and/or review of financial statements and footnotes
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills /ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency.
