Where You’ll Work
This summer internship is based in Bloomfield, CT - Cigna’s Corporate Tax department. You’ll be responsible for owning one or more projects assigned at the beginning of each week, working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
Cigna’s Internship Program is designed to help you develop your skills and gain hands-on experience. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to:
Assist the International Tax Team with the preparation of Forms 5471 and 8858.
Support calculations for Earnings & Profits, Country-by-Country Reporting, and Current Taxes Paid using Excel and Alteryx.
Learn to navigate OneSource Income Tax Software (OIT) for preparing Forms 5471, 8858, and 8865.
Assist the Investment Tax Team with Schedule K-1 federal tax documents and related IRS disclosures.
Participate in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and filings.
Contribute to special projects, including audit requests and research on moderately complex tax issues.
Collaborate with tax team members and legal entity contacts.
Conduct research related to Cigna and its clients.
Perform data analysis and assist with reporting.
Prepare oral or written presentations for management.
Work cross-functionally with other departments on various projects.
What You’ll Need
Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (completion of at least one year preferred).
GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively in team environments and demonstrate professional work habits.
Capacity to understand situational context and respond with logical analysis.
Ethical use of technology to enhance productivity and achieve goals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel experience is a plus.
Additional Information
Location: Interns are expected to work in-office at least 3–4 days per week, subject to change. Geographical preference is for candidates located in the Bloomfield/Hartford area.
Compensation: Hourly rate of $23.50–$25.50, depending on year of study.
Work Authorization: Open only to individuals eligible for employment in the U.S. who do not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) from May 18, 2026.
