Position: Senior Manager of Finance
Location: DSST: Home Office – Denver, CO
Salary: $82,500 - $99,300 (based on up to 10 years of relevant experience) and relocation stipend available for candidates relocating from 75 miles or more from Denver.
Status: Full-time year-round | Exempt | Benefits-eligible
Work Model: Hybrid — 3 days onsite / 2 flexible offsite
Start Date: Immediate preferred; flexible for the right candidate and transition needs.
What You’ll Do
The Senior Manager of Finance leads DSST’s efforts to steward and allocate over $180M across our growing network of 16 schools, impacting 7,600 students today and projected to grow to 18 schools and more than 8,600 students over the next ten years. This role is responsible for ensuring DSST’s financial resources are aligned to student outcomes, long-term sustainability, and organizational priorities.
You will serve as a key link between School Directors, Home Office leaders, and the Accounting and Human Capital teams, partnering closely with senior leaders, members of the DSST Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. The Senior Manager of Finance leads the network-wide budgeting and forecasting process, oversees the Finance Manager, and serves as a strategic advisor to organizational leaders—helping translate complex financial data into clear, strategic decisions that strengthen results across the network. This role owns key financial planning processes and plays a central role in advising leaders on tradeoffs, risks, and priorities.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Budgeting and Forecasting (40%)
Lead the full financial planning cycle, including annual budgets, mid-year forecasts, long-term projections, and the tools that support them
Work with district partners to update assumptions for upcoming year
Meet with and advise budget owners on how to optimize their funds to improve student outcomes and school culture
Oversee budgets for restricted revenue to ensure we are maximizing our governmental funding
Oversee creation of additional budgeting tools to support decision making
Develop & propose new policies to support financial decision making
Financial Reporting (40%)
Create, manage, and enhance Workday and Adaptive financial reports for stakeholders throughout the organization
Partner with the Accounting team on reporting across multiple data sources (Workday, Adaptive, etc) in an increasingly complex organizational systems landscape
Prepare financial statements and analysis for the Board of Directors and committees of the Board
Provide monthly financial update to School Directors, giving insight into their YTD spend vs. budget
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and develop clear, data-backed recommendations and action plans for leaders
Strategic project work for senior executives as assigned
Partnerships (10%)
Serve as the primary finance partner to School Directors and Home Office teams, building financial acumen and strong cross-functional relationships
Build and maintain relationships with district and other external financial partners
Collaborate across Finance team lanes and cross-functional project teams to improve efficiency, data quality, and decision-making
Support development-related financial partnerships in collaboration with the Manager of Finance
Serve as the 401(k) committee representative
Management of Direct Report (5%)
Own professional development and coaching for a finance manager role
Guide project work and assist with partnership across business lanes
Additional Duties (5%)

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (Finance, Accounting, or Management preferred)
3+ years of experience managing budgets across multiple locations, departments, or cost centers
Experience coaching, managing, or mentoring others to outcomes
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate across business functions
Strong financial analysis and modeling skills; high proficiency with Excel
A desire to drive system-level improvements and support organizational sustainability
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Workday Financials and reporting
Experience with Adaptive Insights or similar budgeting tools
Experience in education, nonprofit, public sector, or other mission-driven organizations
Experience presenting financial information or recommendations to senior leaders or boards
