Job Summary: This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a Maintenance Mechanic you will be responsible for performing preventive, corrective maintenance and repairs at a journeymen level for all campus mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, architectural and interior finished systems.

Major Duties:

  • As a Maintenance Mechanic WG-4749-10, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Performs masonry tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of interior and exterior surfaces and structures. Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities. Reviews work order requirements reflecting structures to be constructed, installed, modified, altered, or repaired. Develops patterns, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs items and systems which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes.

This position involves installing, maintaining, repairing and performing quality preventive maintenance and modifying complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and support equipment.
