[What the role is]
The Grant Management Office (GMO) oversees CAAS' grant programmes by establishing grant policies, developing systems, and ensuring compliance with grant guidelines. The office tracks grant spending, monitors project progress, and evaluates programmes’ effectiveness while providing regular reporting to senior management to ensure optimal outcomes achieved from grant awards.
[What you will be working on]
Being part of the GMO, you will ensure sound governance and controls in grants administration while enabling efficient management of grant claims for industry and research grants. In your role as a business partner to grants-giving divisions, you will
- Collaborate with grant-giving divisions on the creation of new grant schemes, including the design and administration of grant schemes to ensure proper governance.
- Provide advisory to grant-giving divisions on grant awards, ensuring compliance with guidelines and governance frameworks.
- Work with grant-giving divisions to prepare progress reports for reporting to Senior Management
- Validate claims submitted by grantees, ensuring that disbursements are made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement. Consolidate and submit verified claims for approval in a timely manner.
- Monitor and track expenditures for awarded grants, ensuring proper allocation and use of funds.
- Oversee the complete grants administration process from application to closure, ensuring compliance with all applicable guidelines.
- Coordinate with auditors (e.g. the Auditor General’s Office and statutory audits) to facilitate efficient and effective audit processes for grant-related activities
- Support digitalisation initiatives to enhance grant administration for governance and efficiency.
[What we are looking for]
- Highly motivated self-starter, with strong time-management, planning and communication skills
- Trained in Accounting or Business Administration
- 7 to 9 years’ experience in grants management and familiarity with Finance Government Instruction Manuals and best practices in financial governance and control.
Note: Your appointment designation will commensurate with your relevant work experience. Successful candidates will be offered a 3-year contract in the first instance and may be considered for placement on a permanent tenure or subsequent contract renewal.
