As a Senior Manager in Canadian Credit Strategy, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and executing data-driven strategies that elevate portfolio performance, optimize Return on Equity (ROE), and influence enterprise-wide decision-making. Design and lead end-to-end credit strategies for high-value portfolios, driving sustainable growth and risk-adjusted returns.
Monitor performance and emerging risks, proactively recommending mitigation actions to enhance portfolio quality and resilience.
Champion initiatives that improve return on equity (ROE)
Lead cross-functional projects from concept to execution, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder alignment, and measurable business impact.
Provide thought leadership and strategic insights to senior executives; represent Credit Strategy in governance forums, regulatory reviews, and audits.
Conduct/Lead advanced analytics and deep-dive portfolio assessments to uncover trends, inform strategy, and support agile decision-making.
Stay ahead of macroeconomic, competitive, and regulatory developments to anticipate risks and opportunities.
Champion industry leading innovation and creativity to drive competitive advantage and business growth.
Inspire and mentor colleagues, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous development.
Build strong partnerships across credit, finance, legal, operations, and product teams to ensure cohesive strategy execution.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in Economics, Business Management, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
3-5 years of progressive experience in credit risk management, ideally within unsecured lending or Private Banking in the Canadian Banking industry
Deep expertise in credit risk management, decision strategy development, and governance frameworks.
Strong understanding of ROE drivers and experience implementing strategies to enhance financial performance.
Proven track record of leading strategic initiatives and delivering measurable outcomes.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and simplify complex analytics.
Advanced proficiency in data science and AI/ML tools (Python, PySpark, SageMaker, R, SAS, SQL).
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
