 About the Role 

In collaboration with the Deputy Director, this role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of a vision and roadmap for platform-related technologies. This roadmap aligns with the strategic objectives and governance principles of both IDS and Flinders.

The role involves working closely with relevant stakeholders and teams to ensure that platform-related priorities are in line with the strategic and operational objectives of IDS customers. Additionally, the role supervises a team of professional staff, offers strong leadership, and proactively manages overall staff performance.

This is achieved by

  • Leading, managing and overseeing the strategy and technology lifecycle for AI and Data platforms, ensuring that platforms are maintained and implemented in accordance with vendor contractual agreements as well as IDS strategy, policies, and procedures.  

  • Ensuring that all team members have a strong understanding of digital experience delivery related to AI and Data platforms.

  • Fostering the management and leadership development of all direct reports while proactively supporting the growth of all staff.

  • Leading the continuous development of relevant platforms and applications by analysing, configuring, testing and documenting new functionalities and capabilities

About You 

With advanced proficiency in strategic thinking and planning, your analytical skills actively contribute to achieving outcomes and fulfilling strategic goals.  Your expertise in guiding a team to achieve its full potential, including high level interpersonal and relationship management skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage staff performance is required, as is a high-level self-improvement and growth mindset/approach and proven ability to foster it amongst the wider team

To be successful in this role, you will also demonstrate:

  • Advanced interpersonal influence with proven ability to negotiate and communicate effectively and to a high level with staff and customers across diverse organisations, particularly during the design, management, and implementation of customer solutions.

  • Proven experience in agile ways of working including exposure to scaled agile methodologies and/or collaborating and delivering through a matrix structure

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in delivery of digital experiences that are implemented using AI & Data platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 or similar 

  • Higher education experience is advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have post graduate qualifications in Information Technology or relevant technical area, and extensive relevant experience, and/or proven expertise in the management of significant human, financial and physical resources. 

About IDS 

IDS are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as the IDS Service Desk, Audio visual, simulation and event services, Information security and identity access management services and more.
