Accountant

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a highly motivated accounting professional with a background in financial services to join our Finance team in Shanghai. This role will support various functions within Finance such as daily bookkeeping, month-end closing, trading P&L reconciliation, local tax filing, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily T+1 trading P&L reconciliations across various asset classes, including trading gains/losses, dividends, interests, and commissions using automated tools,  including SQL queries and running scripts in Python
• Handle accounting operations including accounts payable, bank reconciliation, fixed asset management, and preparation of journal entries – accruals, prepays, and intercompany transactions
• Assist with various China tax filings, including quarterly and annual CIT filing, monthly VAT filing, and other regulatory tax filings
• Interact with internal regulatory reporting team and external auditors to complete group and China statutory audits
• Collaborate with other accounting functions (FP&A, Tax, PostTrade, and Product Control) to support overall business needs
• Perform ad hoc accounting tasks, as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or other related disciplines with recognized professional accounting qualifications (CICPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent certification)
• 3 -7 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity; experience in an international business preferred
• Ability to be a good team player and work independently
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and a positive attitude
• Meticulously detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and a strong sense of responsibility
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin
• Basic knowledge of SQL and Python preferred
