Senior Engineer, Construction Management

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Engineer, Construction Management provides engineering services for the safe construction and maintenance of natural gas transmission infrastructure including pipelines, compression, storage, and other associated facilities to accommodate the expansion, maintenance, and integrity of the natural gas system. This involves applying sound engineering and industry principles, standards, practices, and technology, as well as identifying and recommending effective business solutions.

Position Details

  • Non-union. This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee, support and improve construction QA/QC practices, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient construction services, compliance with standards, policies and legislative/regulatory requirements and alignment with project plans.

  • Conduct independent audits of internal and external fabrication and pipeline welding to ensure compliance with SaskEnergy and TransGas specifications, recommend changes and repairs where required.

  • Provide technical support and recommendations by applying engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of construction problems related to welding and joining.

  • Support the development and optimization of corporate design standards for advanced multi-year or multidiscipline projects through detailed analysis, engineering assessments and other technical measures for natural gas facilities and pipelines.

  • Evaluate, develop, recommend and implement new welding technology, products, procedures, processes and specifications ensuring new solutions are change managed and are reflected in future designs, comply with industry standards, codes, and specifications and best practices.

  • Maintain an awareness of industry developments and best practices.

  • Provide mentorship to department team members in the execution of safe, effective and efficient construction activities.

  • Other related duties as assigned. ​

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial preferred, others may be considered.)

  • Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.

  • Eight (8) years of progressive engineering experience related to the construction of pipeline and compression facilities in the oil and gas industry.

  • Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.

  • Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.


A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Information

  • Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.

  • A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

  • CWB Inspector Level 2 is preferred.
