Position Summary

The Senior Director, Finance Transformation provides enterprise leadership for the strategy, governance, and execution of McKesson’s finance transformation agenda. This role is accountable for driving large‑scale, multi‑year transformation initiatives that modernize finance processes, operating models, and enabling technologies while ensuring strong financial controls, audit readiness, and measurable business outcomes.

Operating as a strategic partner to Enterprise Finance, IT, Enterprise Controls, and Business Unit leaders, the Senior Director translates enterprise finance strategy into executable transformation roadmaps and ensures consistent delivery across initiatives such as ERP modernization, financial close optimization, Blackline enablement, data and analytics, AI-driven capabilities, and continuous improvement programs.

This role leads transformation through Directors, Senior Managers, and cross-functional teams and serves as a thought leader for best practices, innovation, and change management across the Finance organization.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Finance Transformation Leadership

  • Develop and execute the Finance Transformation strategy, aligning initiatives with McKesson’s enterprise objectives, finance vision, and long-term roadmap.
  • Establish and maintain an integrated transformation portfolio, prioritizing initiatives based on value, risk, and enterprise impact.
  • Serve as the primary executive owner for complex, cross-functional finance transformation programs spanning multiple business units and functions.

Program & Portfolio Governance

  • Define and enforce standardized governance, delivery frameworks, and performance metrics for all finance transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure strong alignment between Finance, IT, Enterprise Controls, and external partners on scope, timelines, and delivery expectations.
  • Provide executive-level reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.

Process, Technology & Data Enablement

  • Lead transformation initiatives across record-to-report, FP&A, controllership, master data, and close processes, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Drive adoption and optimization of enabling technologies (e.g., ERP platforms, Blackline, Finance Data Products, analytics, automation, AI-enabled solutions).
  • Partner with data and analytics teams to improve data quality, transparency, and decision-making capabilities across Finance.

Financial Stewardship & Control

  • Maintain strong alignment with SOX, audit, and internal control requirements throughout transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure transformation outcomes improve control effectiveness, reduce manual risk, and enhance audit readiness.
  • Own financial accountability for transformation budgets, vendor spend, and strategic investments.

People Leadership & Change Management

  • Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing transformation teams, including Directors, Senior Managers, and matrixed resources.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation across the Finance organization.
  • Drive organizational change management, ensuring stakeholder engagement, adoption, and sustained value realization.
  • Naturally connect and build strong relationships with enterprise leadership
  • Inspire trust and commitment from others through influence and actions

External Partnerships & Thought Leadership

  • Manage strategic relationships with consulting partners and vendors to ensure delivery quality, value, and alignment with McKesson standards.
  • Monitor external trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to continuously evolve McKesson’s finance capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, MBA or Advanced Degree
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in finance, finance transformation, or business operations
  • 7+ years of experience leading large, cross-functional teams and enterprise-scale initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience driving complex transformation programs in a large, matrixed organization
  • Experience with ERP transformations (e.g., SAP S/4HANA), financial close automation, or enterprise finance platforms
  • Strong understanding of controllership, internal controls, and SOX compliance
  • Consulting or advisory background supporting finance transformation initiatives
  • Healthcare, distribution, or highly regulated industry experience

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$152,600 - $254,400
