ACCIONA Mechanical & Electrical is a specialist division within ACCIONA, delivering end-to-end mechanical and electrical design, construction, installation and commissioning services that support the transition to a low-carbon future.

Position


This role is responsible for managing all design aspects of the project lifecycle. It involves sourcing, engaging, and overseeing internal and external resources to ensure seamless delivery from handover to the construction team through to project completion. The position ensures that all design activities align with client objectives, contractual requirements, and project goals, while
maintaining quality, safety, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the agreed design management strategy and review target programmes for design matters.
  • Resolve design conflicts and ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards
  • Lead Value Engineering and Whole of Life assessments to improve cost-effectiveness and sustainability
  • Ensure engineering systems processes are integrated seamlessly including resolving major design control challenges
  • Mentor teams on design controls and systems engineering, proactively improve design quality and efficiency
  • Lead problem-solving efforts for complex technical challenges, balancing project constraints such as cost, time, and quality
  • Apply and incorporate engineering knowledge embodied in standards, design guides, product datasheets, and existing products and designs to produce reliable and economical results in a timely manner
  • Evaluate ongoing projects, products and processes to identify and diagnose performance deficiencies, impending or actual failures, and propose remedies and solutions
  • Proactively identify and address design flaws and construction issues, aiming to optimise project Performance
     

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related field
  • Preferable 7 years’ experience in a construction/engineering environment with significant exposure to design, costing, estimating and planning 
  • Competent understanding of Australian and International codes and standards and risk and contingency assessment
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Australian engineering standards and practices
  • Use advanced modeling and simulation tools to validate complex system designs
