Canadian Tire Corporation

Senior Copywriter & Editor

Toronto, ON Full time

If you love shaping brand voice, elevating brands through copy and making purpose‑driven work land with precision, this role is for you.

We’re looking for a Senior Copywriter/Editor to join Canadian Tire’s In‑House Content & Creative team—a copy creative who brings editorial rigour, a sharp instinct for brand storytelling and a clear point of view on what great retail and ecommerce copy looks like.

Reporting to the Manager, Creative Copy & Content, this role will help define, refine and champion our tone of voice across brand campaigns and ecommerce experiences. You’ll partner closely with writers, designers, marketers and channel teams to make every word clear, consistent, compelling and unmistakably on brand. Just as important, you’ll communicate with confidence—turning editorial decisions into crisp, constructive direction that moves the work forward. And because you’re also a strong copywriter, you know when a line hits and fits—whether you wrote it, curated it or smartly adapted it from AI.

This role blends hands‑on writing with editorial leadership and governance—perfect for someone who obsesses over details, understands how brand systems scale and can guide work from brief to final execution without sacrificing speed.

What You Will Do:

  • Act as a brand steward for Canadian Tire’s Tone of Voice ensuring consistency, clarity, and quality across all touchpoints

  • Embrace AI‑enabled tools as part of a modern, efficient editorial workflow.

  • Assist with AI integration for copy assets and help create agents and prompts for quick, templated copy ads.

  • Assist in daily copy governance, juggling a schedule that includes over a 100 assets per week

  • Become proficient with CT’s style guides, editorial frameworks and best practices

  • Write, edit and refine ecommerce copy, including emails, web pages and ads, balancing brand storytelling with conversion best practices

  • Partner with copywriters and creative teams to strengthen ideas, elevate writing and maintain editorial excellence

  • Provide clear, constructive editorial feedback that helps teams grow while protecting brand standards

  • Confidently present editorial recommendations and brand rationale to stakeholders

 Experience:

  • 7+ years of demonstrative experience as a senior retail/brand copywriter and editor in an agency or in‑house creative environment with experience in managing a portfolio and mentoring junior copywriters

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills—you can clearly explain editorial decisions and brand rationale

  • Deep experience editing brand‑led campaign work and ecommerce/retail copy

  • A proven ability to steward and apply brand tone of voice across multiple channels

  • An exceptional editorial eye, with mastery of grammar, style and narrative flow

  • Strong understanding of how copy functions in digital, ecommerce and OMNI‑channel environments

  • Confidence managing multiple workstreams and priorities without sacrificing quality

  • A collaborative, solutions‑oriented mindset and comfort working in a fast‑paced environment

  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of digital content trends and platforms, including social and commerce ecosystems
