10The Role: Senior Consultant
Location: Shanghai, China
Job Summary
S&P Global Mobility Consulting is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our China team. This role will lead analytical workstreams and support consulting engagements across market forecasting, competitive intelligence, electrification, software-defined vehicles (SDV), technology trends, and supply chain.
In addition, the Senior Consultant will help scale and deepen our support for market due diligence and investment-oriented projects by connecting market and competitive insights with financial evaluation considerations (e.g., validating key assumptions, developing sensitivities/scenarios, and supporting decision-ready outputs).
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Analysis
Lead major analytical modules across mobility topics such as market forecasting, competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, EV/SDV trends, and supply chain insights.
Conduct structured quantitative and qualitative analysis; synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
Create high-quality, executive-ready presentations and supporting materials.
Market Due Diligence & Investment-Oriented Support
Contribute to market due diligence engagements by validating market and competitive assumptions and translating findings into decision-relevant implications (e.g., commercial viability, key risks, and scenarios).
Support review and stress-testing of key commercial inputs used in business plans and financial models (e.g., volume, pricing, utilization, cost drivers, FX assumptions) and help design sensitivity/downside cases where appropriate.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., technical advisors, client teams) to align market evidence with commercial and financial logic.
Project Management & Client Engagement
Act as workstream lead or support project leads to manage timeline, milestones, risks, and cross-team coordination.
Participate in or lead client meetings, workshops, and stakeholder interviews; communicate insights clearly to senior audiences.
Knowledge Building & Thought Leadership
Contribute to internal knowledge assets, frameworks, and methodologies across mobility topics and diligence approaches.
Track and incorporate cross-sector adjacencies; experience in robotics, humanoid robots, and/or eVTOL (advanced air mobility) is welcomed and may be leveraged in relevant client engagements.
Qualifications:
Experience
3–6 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, market intelligence, transaction/investment advisory, or related roles within automotive/mobility, industrials, technology, or adjacent sectors.
Demonstrated ability to independently lead analytical workstreams and deliver polished client-ready outputs.
Financial Evaluation / Diligence Exposure (Preferred)
Experience supporting market due diligence and/or investment decision support, such as: reviewing business plans and key model assumptions; building sensitivity/scenario analysis; supporting valuation or investment committee materials (DCF/comps exposure is a plus).
Skills
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills; comfort working with data and ambiguity.
Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; ability to produce executive-level deliverables.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex findings to senior stakeholders.
Domain Knowledge (Preferred)
Familiarity with EV / SDV / connectivity / autonomy / supply chain trends.
Welcome: project or working experience related to robotics, humanoid robots, eVTOL / advanced air mobility.
Language
Fluency in Chinese and English (written and spoken).
