Senior Business System Analyst, GFT

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

What will you do? 

  • Understand existing application flows, system architecture, upstream/downstream integrations, and business rules
  • Own requirements capture, documentation, requirement and app reviews and coordination of sign-offs by various Business and IT teams
  • Ensure traceability and coverage to all functional business requirements during the QA cycles
  • Effectively challenge the business to ensure that we are developing solutions that are scalable, maintainable, aim for zero technical debt, and that help mitigate business risks and create efficiencies
  • Responsible to create user stories in JIRA, update user stories with the technical specs, participate in refinement sessions, providing guidance on the delivery sequence of the user stories, ensuring that stories are aligned to the proper epics and track subtasks as well as tasks, leading or participating in demos
  • Coordinate with Business and Development team for delivery, requirements clarifications, analysis, impact assessment and create required documentation – user stories, workflow diagrams, mockups, system specifications, RAID logs, traceability matrix, non-functional requirements, user manuals, support document, etc.
  • Support PM as needed for managing medium to large size initiatives for tracking, delivery, project reporting and identifying and managing issues and risks for successful delivery within committed budgets
  • Independently manage business and IT stakeholders, drive project meetings. Be hands on with application functionality and perform validation of delivery to business for ensuring scope elements are delivered as per the plan
  • Contribute to ongoing administrative program, reporting, estimation and other activities as required
  • Train users in any new functionality, provide support to back office personnel during the UAT phase and assist PM in monitoring user testing to ensure all issues are resolved prior to new functionality being distributed to the production environment

What do you need to succeed?

 Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree with 5+ years’ of experience working as a BA/BSA on concurrent initiatives in a fast paced, collaborative environment
  • A good understanding of Enterprise Risk Management systems, including modules  within Enterprise Archer
  • Solid knowledge of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) at the bank.
  • An understanding of Key Risk Indicator (KRI) as it relates to Risk Management.
  • Exposure to Supplier Management, ServiceNow, Archer, LeanIX and various application related systems at RBC.
  • Exposure to Employee information systems such as Workday (HR) and Global Directory Services (GDS) and its hierarchical relationship within their business unit.
  • Demonstrated ability in written, oral and presentation skills, analytical skills, problem solving and reporting skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and the
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Tools: Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, MS Office ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), MS SQL

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with CUSO and BCM Process and Methodology
  • Familiarity with SQL, reading and basic write skills
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
  • Familiar with concepts of data modelling and system configuration. Be able to read and understand xml standards
