As an Operations Specialist, you'll serve as both a subject matter expert and technical systems  resource, managing daily administration processes, leading implementation projects, and  ensuring seamless data processing activities.

What you’ll do

  • Manage administrative and case management issues as well as data processing activities on a daily basis with minimal supervision 

  • Apply strong knowledge of the Health and Welfare Benefit domain, rules and regulations 

  • Manage individual participant requests as well as plan level data processing and analysis 

  • Complete and peer review transactions and file postings for plan participants 

  • Review Plan Documents to assist with research and build plan specific knowledge 

  • Ensure that all items are processed accurately and within agreed upon time standards  

  • Communicate with clients when needed for participant inquiries requiring additional information 

  • Apply advanced analysis skill through data analysis, trouble shooting, eligibility logic, and business requirements development 

  • Test and analyze system configuration against requirement documents during implementation and administration 

  • Participate in client specific and TELUS Health wide project work 

  • Monitor project schedules to ensure deliverables are met timely; notify project manager or client if timelines are in jeopardy 

  • Use our sophisticated database of tools to set up a client's healthcare & group benefits database; define data fields, import data, design screens and create queries and reports 

  • Meet with team leaders and project managers to define project scope and objectives, assignments and timelines. 

What you bring

  • 3-5 years in Benefit Administration, business analysis, or Operations roles with healthcare/group benefits knowledge

  •  Advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Macros) with ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies

  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects with superior time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in team-oriented environments

  • Self-motivated, adaptable professional committed to quality, deadlines, continuous improvement, and growth

Great-to-haves

  • Bachelor degree 

  • Professional certifications in HR, benefits, or related fields (CEBS)

  • Project management background is a plus

  • SQL, MS Access, and/or VBA experience is preferred

  • Previous experience with database management or data processing

  • Experience with project coordination or administrative support roles

  • Experience working in a consulting or client services environment

  • Understanding of compliance requirements in benefits administration
