Toast is looking for a Senior Atlassian Systems Administrator to serve as the primary steward and owner of our global collaborative ecosystem. You will be responsible for the end-to-end administration, configuration, and optimization of the entire Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Jira Product Discovery, etc). This role requires a blend of strong technical precision and strategic thinking to ensure our tools are seamlessly integrated, highly available, and tailored to support our agile development and business processes.

 A day in the life (Responsibilities) 

  • System Administration: Execute day-to-day management of Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), & Jira Product Discovery, Loom. 
  • Workflow Engineering: Design and maintain complex Jira workflows, issue types, custom fields, and automation rules to streamline cross-functional team operations.
  • Suite Integration: Optimize integrations between the Atlassian suite and third-party tools (e.g., Slack, GitHub, Miro, and CI/CD pipelines).
  • Performance & Maintenance: Coordinate application upgrades, patch management, and Marketplace app evaluations to ensure system stability.
  • Expert Advice & Troubleshooting: Partner with other Toasters on Atlassian best practices, to enable them to work better and smarter together.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Atlassian Administrator (Cloud or Data Center environment).
  • Mastery across the "Full Suite"—Jira (Core/Software/JSM), Confluence, Loom, Jira Product Discovery. Extra points for experience with modules like Jira Plans. 
  • JQL: Proficiency with JQL (Jira Query Language), able to help teams troubleshoot through JQL complexities. 
  • Agile Proficiency: Deep understanding of Scrum/Kanban methodologies and Lean thinking.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex permission schemes and architectural bottlenecks.
  • Ownership Mentality: Takes full accountability of their work and gets things done with minimal oversight.
  • Third Party Management: Experience with 3rd-party management/engagement and building strong partnerships. 
  • Independent Problem-Solver: Operates with a high degree of autonomy solving day-to-day Atlassian issues ensuring that all teams can continue to move quickly.
